Pakistan Gets a New Esports League
The Supreme Galactic League, dubbed Pakistan’s first professional esports league, will take place from August to October this year. The league is spearheaded by popular Dubai-based esports organization Galaxy Racer, which recently announced its creation.
Galaxy Racer promises the new League will become one of the most entertaining esports events in Pakistan. The Supreme Galactic League will see eight professional esports teams from across the country as well as other “renowned names” competing against each other.
Qualifiers for the event start this August with the final LAN tournament hosted in October. With a prize pool yet to be announced, the Supreme Galactic League will see the best teams battle it out to determine the ultimate champions of their respective games. Matches will be played in a closed arena and information about broadcasting platforms will be provided soon.
Hopes are that the Supreme Galactic League will further bring together the esports ecosystem of Pakistan with a best-in-class esports league structure.
Pakistan’s Growing Esports Sphere
The Supreme Galactic League is riding the waves of an expanding Pakistani ecosystem. The country’s biggest esports tournament, which was attended virtually by Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi, saw the expansion of Galaxy Racers into the country at the beginning of this year. It was hosted at the Pakistan-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad with over US$100,000 in prize pool.
“We are thrilled to announce the Supreme Galactic League,” said Fakhr-e-Alam, CEO of Galaxy Racer Pakistan, about the announcement. “With more talent emerging and the esports ecosystem growing exponentially in Pakistan, Galaxy Racer aims to set a benchmark in the industry and show its commitment to provide a global platform for our players with the launch of this historic league.”
His sentiments were echoed by Chief of Staff of Galaxy Racer Walid Singer who said the company has seen tremendous support from the Pakistani esports community that helped them get firmly established as an esports organization in a short span of time. “The Supreme Galactic League is a testimony of our long-term vision of contributing towards the growth of esports in the country by attracting Pakistan’s top esports teams to battle it out with a best-in-class league structure,” he added.
Being founded in 2019, seeing a lot of fast growth, and having an impressive roster of twelve esports teams in games like Dota 2, League of Legends, CS:GO, and others, Galaxy Racer is set to cement itself as one of the founders of Pakistan’s growing esports scene.
