Two teams have risen to the top of the BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown, namely G2 Esports and Gambit Esports.
The Showdown Champions Took the Last Two Spots for the Spring Final
G2 Esports and Gambit Esports have become champions of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown. With this, both of the teams have secured their spots for the Spring Final, which will be the S-tier culmination of the spring events.
The battle during the Spring Showdown saw the said teams prevail against numerous opponents.
G2 Esports opened its performance with a flawless victory against their first opponents from Endpoint. Then they fought against OG, which proved to be tougher opponents. However, G2 still prevailed with a 2-1 result. Following OG was Team Spirit. Spirit proved to be even stronger and almost got G2 eliminated. Spirit won the Mirage map by a landslide. G2 had to do everything in their power to win, which eventually they did, albeit in the overtime, setting the final result at 2-1 for G2 and assuring the team a place in the Spring Finals.
Gambit Esports had similar results. They also had a strong opening match where they steamrolled NASR. However, the competitors from Furia managed to take score a point, leaving the result at 2-1. Similar to G2 vs. Spirit, Gambit’s third march against Heroic was much more even. Gambit’s performance declined on the second map, which happened to be Vertigo. Heroic seemed to have the upper hand on Train, which was the next map, but Gambit picked themselves up again and overturned the tides in their favor.
After some impressive matches and memorable moments, G2 Esports and Gambit Esports have proven themselves worthy of taking a part of the S-tier rated BLAST Premier: Spring Final. They have taken the last of the eight spots and will be up against some major competitors in the face of BIG, Complexity Gaming, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Evil Geniuses, and FaZe Clan.
The Spring Final will start on June 15.
