- Diablo 4 has been delayed to 2023
- Fans discuss the feasibility of Blizzard being able to deliver two good Diablo games
- Many hope to see a return to Diablo’s gritty and ominous origins
Diablo 4’s release date was delayed again, and fans are starting to wonder if Blizzard can live up to the promises and deliver a good game.
Diablo 4 Delayed to Disappointment of All
Ever since its first installment way back in 1997, the Diablo franchise has grown to one of Blizzard’s biggest titles. The games have been a huge influence in the RPG and dungeon crawlers as a whole. With a reputation like this, Blizzard has much to aspire to with Diablo 4. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the game ever since it was announced during Blizzcon 2019.
Unfortunately for fans of the series, the game’s release was delayed. There was never a specific date given, however, Diablo 4 was supposed to be released sometime in 2022. It was recently announced that this date will be pushed back to 2023. With so many scandals Blizzard had this year, it is perhaps no surprise that the company is trying to make time in order to give itself some time before ramping up production.
Fans Vent Their Frustration about Diablo 4
With the news of the delay spreading, fans have taken to social media to express their concerns about the production of the game. One redditor wrote, “Diablo 4 team has the impossible task of making a sequel to two different games.”
Of course, every long-lasting gaming franchise comes to a point where players criticize any new titles that come out. When Diablo 3 came out, many old-school fans scrutinized the game’s flashy combat mechanics and beautiful vistas. Their issue was that the previous two games had a more gritty and ominous ambiance. Some players said that Diablo 3 goes against the very essence of what made the Diablo games so memorable. Then there are those who just say: “Or we are just old dinosaurs and the mechanics of d2 are never to be repeated.”
Some fans have said that Diablo 4 should “be its own thing, or it needs to combine the good parts of both games. Not be a sequel to both of them or either, it has to also stand on its own.” Others hope that Diablo Immortal is going to be the sequel to D3, and Diablo 4 the sequel to D2.
Despite all the drama surrounding Blizzard this year, the studio has been releasing information about the game and teasing various short gameplay videos, so perhaps fans will be rewarded for their patience.
