Evolution Championship Series (Evo) makes a return in 2021 after the unfortunate 2020 controversy. Registrations are open and the schedule is out for all competitive fighting game enthusiasts.
Evo is Back Once Again – Details Available
Fighting game enthusiasts can rejoice as Evolution Championship Series, one of the biggest fighting game tournaments, will be returning in 2021. The event has released its schedule and opened its registrations for gamers worldwide.
Fighting games experienced some turbulent times. Evo 2020 had to be canceled because of sexual harassment allegations against the event’s CEO Joey Cuellar. Recently the Twitch Rivals Mortal Kombat X Lives just had to be rescheduled as the participating players started get doxed.
In the light of this, Evo’s return is even more exciting. The event just published a message to the community with the best hopes that last year’s events won’t repeat again.
The event’s dates are set for two consecutive weekends: August 6-8 and August 13-15.
The tournament will take place online and will be open for everyone who wishes to participate. Fighting game fans can chose to compete in one of several titles, including:
- Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
- Tekken 7
- Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath
- Gulty Gear Strive
An additional tournament in Them’s Fightin’ Herds will precede the main event and will run between July 23 and 25.
Fans who want to compete have 2 weeks to submit their registration before the registrations close on June 15.
Evo 2021 will be split into several regions. Street Fighter V split each region into two sub-regions while the rest of the games will take only the overall region into consideration.
