Evil Geniuses is reportedly dropping BRANTED and roca from the VALORANT team and seeking new players to replenish its manpower.

EG Will Drop BRANTED and Roca, Sources Have It

According to various reports, the professional North American esports organization Evil Geniuses isn’t quite over with its roster for the new competitive VALORANT season.

Yesterday various sources contacted the esports news outlet Dot Esports, claiming that Evil Geniuses’ roster has been practicing without Brandon “BRANTED” Ballard and Daniel “roca” Gustaferri. This has led analysts to believe that the players might soon be excluded from EG’s ranks.

The two players were signed back in 2021 alongside Mike “pho” Panza as the team was trying to boost its performance. However, BRANTED and roca might have not lived up to EG’s standards.

Should the organization dismiss those two players, it will have two more vacant spots to fill, forcing it to quickly search for a total of three new players before the season rolls up. The sources continued by mentioning that the Geniuses are already trialing new players and will soon decide on which ones they will take in.

Currently, Evil Geniuses’ incomplete lineup is comprised of Kelden “Boostio” Pupello whom the organization acquired in September, as well as Mike “pho” Panza and Jeffrey “Reformed” Lu. The team is coached by Christine “potter” Chi who has previously served as the team’s captain.

EG’s 2021 Has Been Unexciting

The roster changes come in the wake of Evil Geniuses’ suboptimal performance throughout 2021. While the team didn’t perform terribly, it failed to achieve the successes it desired and meet the expectations of the fans.

The team performed great during the Nerd Street Gamers Winter Championship: Open 7 but failed to reach first place and were knocked out in the quarterfinals by XSET, the eventual tournament winner. A few days later, the Geniuses participated in the VCS Midwest Showdown where they once again failed to grab the top spot. In that event, EG reached the grand finals where it lost to the free agent roster Frag Ya Bag.

Evil Geniuses is a popular organization but it has had a bit of an unexciting year. The org’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster is also undergoing some major changes after a terrible competitive season. EG parted ways with three seasoned players, seeking to make changes and improve its performance.
