Eternal Fire can feel a bit safe for their berth in the ESL Pro League after they defeated 9INE 2-0, sending them to the Last Chance Bracket.

Eternal Fire Defeat 9INE

Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli and company continue in the Maltese event after they successfully defeated their Polish opponents from 9INE in the event’s lower bracket. The team found themselves having top face 9INE after they suffered a defeat at the hands of Cloud9 on September 20, sending them to the lower bracket.

Fortunately for the Turkish squad, 9INE proved to be an easier opponent, as Eternal Fire defeated them 2-0 on Anubis and Vertigo. Despite that, it was not the easiest of matches for EF, making for quite an interesting showdown. The result means 9INE will have to face Lynn Vision in a fight for survival in the first round of the Last Chance stage of the ESL Pro League Season 18.

The match itself started on Anubbis, Eternal Fire’s choice, and one that the Turks almost came to regret, as they finished it after overtime. The teams traded rounds in the first half with Özgür “woxic” Eker proving to be Eternal Fire’s most valuable player at the time. However, his efforts were not enough to gain his CS:GO squad a huge advantage as the scoreboard read 8-7 at the end of the first half.

When the sides switched, Eternal Fire won the pistol round and then broke 9INE after the Poles won the first gun round, putting the Turkish squad firmly ahead. However, that advantage was quickly negated by the actions of the Poles’ Olek “hades” Miskiewicz, who allowed his team to tie the score at 12-12. The two teams traded rounds after that, forcing an overtime, where 9INE finally broke formation, allowing Eternal Fire to string a few rounds, ending Anubis with a 19-15.

It was time for the Poles to choose the second map, and they settled on Vertigo, claiming the first pistol round and the two others following that. However, Eternal Fire then broke that chain and strung up five rounds of their own thanks to some slick middle and B takes. 9INE got themselves back into things with stellar ramp holds powered by Kamil “KEi” Pietkun, mustering another 8-7 halftime, this time for the Poles.

Unfortunately for them, it seems the efforts in the first half had exhausted 9INE as Eternal Fire quickly equalized the score when the sides switched. After that, the Turkish squad took economic control, and thanks in large part to Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş, wrapped things up with a comfortable 16-11 victory.

Now, Eternal Fire will face Virtus.pro at Group D’s Lower Semi-Final of the ESL Pro League Season 18, while 9INE will have to face Lynn Vision in the Last Chance stage.
