With the WePlay! Dota 2 Major in Kiev around the corner and with the Dota Pro Circuit coming to an end for the regular season, fans will have a whole summer of nothing to do. That is unless ESL has something to say about it.
The company has stepped up and announced the ESL One Summer 2021, with qualifiers starting next week, on May 25, and 12 teams joining a fiery competition between June 16 and June 20 for a shot at $400,000 in prize money.
The qualifiers will last two days with two teams going through a single-elimination bracket and then into a closed qualifier which will promote the two qualifiers’ winners and two invited teams, which will battle for an invite into the main event on May 27 and May 28.
This should give Dota 2 fans something to look forward to and make June even more entertaining for them. It’s likely that we will see teams that have failed to make the cut for this year’s last Major, which is still many great powerhouses.
Details about the event are forthcoming with ESL planning to release more information closer to the date. The full list of presently available details is already uploaded on the official ESL page. Stay tuned for more information.
No other organizations have announced intermittent events to fill the competitive vacuum until The International 10, but some new ones may still emerge.
