Yet another player tested positive for Covid-19 at the League of Legends World Championship, forcing him to continue the tournament from a specialized isolated LAN room.

Canyon Tests Positive for the Virus

Almost two weeks into the biggest League of Legends tournament in the world and Covid-19 once again rears its ugly head and interferes with the event. Several MAD Lions and Fnatic tested positive for the virus at the start of the tournament, but today they are joined by DWG KIA’s jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, who has also contracted the disease. 

Fortunately, the player feels well enough to continue playing with his team, but he will have to do so from a special isolated LAN room. Riot Games posted an update regarding its strict Covid-19 policy that explained that every player from every team, as well as staff members, are regularly tested to ensure their safety. 

If a player is found to be positive for the virus, they may continue to play with their teams if they feel well enough but will have to do so from the previously mentioned isolated rooms. However, if the player is unable to continue participating in his team’s matches, the organization is allowed to assign a substitute player in their absence.

If players test negative ahead of their matches, they are allowed to compete again but considering DWG KIA’s matching is kicking off soon, it is unlikely we will see Canyon participate in the main room alongside his teammates. DWG are second in their group and will play their remaining matches on Friday, October 14.

Canyon will be joining several Gen.G who also tested positive for the virus. All three of them also feel well enough to continue playing and await their next match on October 16.
