CS:GO teams from MENA will be able to compete for a spot at the BLAST Premier’s Spring Showdown by participating in the Dune Cup, hosted by Calyx.

MENA Teams to Compete for Spots in BLAST Premier Spring Showdown in the Dune Cup

Esports production company Calyx announced a Dune Cup qualifier event, set to take place from 18 to 20 March. The Dune Cup is a part of the BLAST Premier’s expanded Qualifier Series and will offer people from the Middle East and North Africa region the possibility to qualify for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown event coming later this year. 

The BLAST Premier’s expanded Qualifier Series is hosted in 20 counties on five different continents. Thus everyone is given a chance for a spot at the major events. The top teams of regional events will not only secure a place at the Spring Showdown but receive $25,000 as a participation fee. 

Eight invited teams will join the face-off – four from the Middle Eastern part, two from the North Africa Qualifiers, and two GCC and Levant Qualifiers.

The ones from the Middle Eastern region are the Nasr eSports, Yalla eSports and Divine Vendetta from the Emirates, and 01 eSports from Saudi Arabia. More qualifiers are already underway, courtesy of Fantasyexpo and Challengermode

The BLAST Premier Spring Showdown and Future of MENA Region

The BLAST Premier Spring Showdown will be held from 13 to 18 April. Winners of the qualifiers will head directly there and will receive a share from the $162,500 prize pool. The teams that perform best at the Spring Showdown will continue climbing the ladder, with their final goal being the Spring and World finals

BLAST Premier commissioner Andrew Haworth said he is delighted by the collaboration with Calyx. Haworth believes the region has a bright future in esports and is happy MENA players will have the chance to progress in the Spring Showdown. The commissioner mentioned he admires MENA players’ passion and is happy to help provide a global platform for teams in this part of the world.
