- Dr Disrespect is looking to build a new battle royale genre that will be based on “vertical” survival, not a spacious gaming landscape
- The streamer is already posting job listings for people he would need to make the project come to fruition
- He will collaborate with Boom TV to help with recruitment and general direction of his company
Dr Disrespect is coming into the video gaming business with a vertical battle royale game idea coming closer to fruition.
Dr Disrespect Says Yes to Video Game Development
Herschel Beahm IV is heading into the business world of the video gaming industry. In case you don’t know who this is, think Dr Disrespect. The famous Twitch and Fortnite player has faced some challenges as he was evicted from the streaming platform for unspecified reasons.
However, he has bounced back quite well and today he is planning to become a developer in the video gaming world. His previous projects include a map he helped create for Rogue Company, and he is now toying with the idea of creating one for Riot Games’ latest FPS hit, Valorant, too.
Now, he will have a chance to do a lot more as he has launched a dedicated video game development studio with Champions Club, Dr Disrespect’s personal page, now running a listing for various positions within his new company.
Dr Disrespect already has an idea of what his company may look like, as he will be pushing for a sort of a vertical battle royale game, where a fire sets at the bottom of a building and rages all throughout the place as dozens of players try to reach the top floor while eliminating each other.
Building from Scratch Requires Talent
As it turns out, this concept may be coming to fruition as the Champions Club website specifies that he wants to develop a game in collaboration with Boom TV and then list it on the Epic Games Store, Steam, and console.
Boom TV will play an important part as it will assist with a lot of the day-to-day activities and the realization of the final product. The posting at his website suggests that he will be looking for someone who is keen on esports and who is willing to develop any future game in a similar vein.
Yet, Dr Disrespect may be looking at an even bigger picture, and the job posting specifies that “The studio plans to forge a partnership with a select list of mega influencers and then work closely with them to launch their dream gaming title. Those gaming titles will either be incubated or developed OR partner/co-developed with existing indie game developers and launched as mega titles.”
Doc Knows What He Is Doing
Doc is not just a gamer. He has been around games for a very long time before becoming a streaming sensation. He worked for Sledgehammer, a company that is involved with the development of the Call of Duty franchise, and he has been a level designer in his past, willing to explore more.
He may not have the complete skill set to build a game from scratch, but he has a concept, a reputable name, and an understanding of what FPS players care about and how he can give it to them.
