Valve is reportedly working on re-launching the Dota Pro Circuit in Eastern Europe. Sports.ru reported the company has certain conditions.

Sports.ru Said Valve Is Working on Bringing Back the DPC

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has shaken the world of esports, taking a heavy toll on the Eastern European esports scene. Dota 2 is no exception, with Valve recently announcing that the EEU edition of the Dota Pro Circuit will be put on hold. For how long? The Russian sports news outlet Sports.ru says it has the answer.

According to the site, Valve contacted them and provided a list of prerequisites that need to be fulfilled before the EEU DPC returns. The first one requires teams to be able to confirm they will be able to actively participate in matches. They must also obtain visas for Stockholm so that they can participate in the upcoming Spring Tour Major.

The players must also have a way to receive their prize money – something that might not be the case for many Russian players as the majority of Western finance withdrew from the country.

Sports.ru added that teams need to reach out to Valve or otherwise, the company will consider them unable to participate in the Spring Tour.

The Negotiations Will Continue as Valve Carefully Assesses the Situation

Valve has vowed to directly work with players and organizations for the return of the DPC in Eastern Europe. Because of this, the company wants to make sure that teams are able to play before making any plans for the circuit. Furthermore, the company seems to want to avoid a situation where a team qualifies for a Major tournament but is then unable to participate in it.

Another Russian news outlet, Cybersport.ru, spoke with the event organizer Epic Esports, which said that it is ready to work with Valve for the return of the DPC in Eastern Europe and fulfill the needed conditions.

“It is not easy to find a replacement for us in a short time, the situation threatens to disrupt the season, which is why we offered the publisher to continue working under the contract,” the company said.

Epic Esports urged all players and organizations participating in the negotiations with Valve to exert moderation and refrain from leaking confidential information.

The DPC Spring Tour began on March 14. Whether Eastern Europe will be able to make a late appearance is yet to be seen.
