Vikin.gg Releases Dota 2 Roster Following End of 2021 DPC

in DOTA 2
July 16, 2021
  • Vikin.gg bows out of competitive Dota 2 with the full dismissal of active players and coach
  • The team has failed to clarify whether it's stepping out of the Dota 2 scene entirely
  • Vikin did achieve several distinctions during the DPC and the last two years of play

Dota 2 loses another respectable team with Vikin.gg dropping its Dota 2 roster, and no plans announced for recruiting new additions presently.

Vikin.gg Bids Dota 2 Roster Farewell

With the Dota Pro Circuit completed and teams readying up for The International in Bucharest, Romania, many organizations have had time to stop and sit down. A natural question that comes around this time of the year is whether the results during the season are enough to merit an extension of player contracts.

In the case of Vikin.gg, the answer has been a polite no. Vikin.gg announced on social media that moving forward, it would be letting go of its current Dota 2 roster, adding that the organization was proud of their commitment to Vikin and wished them nothing but the best.

We made the hard decision to part ways with our current roster: @boomdota, @Shad_Dota, @KheZu, @AramisDota2, @Seleri4096 and @ImmortalFaithd.

We're proud of everything we've achieved together and we wish them nothing but the best.

Thank you for your support so far❤️#VikingWay pic.twitter.com/tBJeK1Ag0t

The decision comes after two years of intense play with Vikin.gg making very few changes to its line-up and giving its players an opportunity to prove themselves. Vikin.gg did well on at least several occasions, and the team successfully participated in over 600 tournament games, and won 14 events outright.

Among the achievements of the team, according to captain Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp, were several top placements in Tier 1 tournaments. The team attended both the ESL One Germany and EPIC League, facing some tough competition all around.

While Indji “Shad” Lub, Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan, Adam “Aramis” and Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann may now be free agents, their path in Dota 2 is likely far from over. All players have proven that they have the qualities to pursue esports on a competitive level.

Dota 2 is traditionally one of the hardest competitive scenes to break into, with established organizations such as Nigma, Team Liquid, and Team Secret reigning supreme for over a decade now. Vikin.gg has failed to clear up whether it will be stepping out of Dota 2 entirely or is on the lookout for new additions to replace the players.
