TNC Predator Bows out of Competitive Dota until DPC 2022

in DOTA 2
July 28, 2021
  • TNC Predator's missed qualifier opportunity for the TI10 puts the team in a sleep mode
  • Predator will be returning for Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2022
  • The team will be rooting for other Filipino players in the meantime

Following a missed last-qualifier opportunity, TNC Predator will discontinue competing in Dota until DPC 2022 restarts.

With TI10 Out of the Picture, TNC Predator Takes a Break from Dota

Following an eventful 2021 Dota Pro Circuit, TNC Predator is going to take a short break from competitive Dota in the months leading up to The International 10 and the new DPC season.

TNC Predator will, unfortunately, miss out on TI 10, which sports $40 million in prize money and the single-biggest competition the game has seen. After a challenging 2020, The International had to be delayed until 2021 and moved from Stockholm, Sweden, to Bucharest, Romania.

TNC Predator failed to collect enough DPC and qualify for the event prompting the organization to rest up and reconvene in the wake of TI10 for the DPC season. Missing out on the event will certainly be dispiriting for the team, but it will also prove a much-needed break from competitive Dota.

Predator almost made it by getting to the finals of Southeast Asia last chance qualifiers but lost to Fnatic in a 2-0 debacle. TNC Predator also had to patch its roster in mid-season, looking into Marvin “Boomy” Rushton and Jun “Bok” Kanehara, who have both proven keen to push Predator's gameplay to the next level but came a little short of it.

Following fairly strong 2018 and 2019 seasons in the DPC, TNC Predator acknowledged that the pandemic had killed some of its momentum as personal matters had interfered with competitive video gaming.

In a Facebook post, the organization had this to say: “A lot has happened since the pandemic breakout, and we want the players to use this time to be with their families, take a much-needed break and build the best versions of themselves as preparations for the next big fight.”

TNC Predator is one of the most formidable teams in competitive Dota 2. They had won over $4.6 million since 2013 when the team was formed, but The International has been an elusive goal for many years now.
