- SumaiL will be returning to OG after ana’s departure from the team
- The professional player has been a part of the team previously but has been playing as an enemy in recent times
- OG will have to step up if they want to keep their champion title during The International 10
SumaiL will be returning to OG, just as fans had been suggesting for months.
SumaiL Back as an Ally of OG
Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan is one of the top players in Dota 2. He was a part of OG’s roster for seven months during 2020 and contributed a lot to the team’s victories in that time. With him back, OG hopes to keep its champion’s title.
OG is a top esports organization that has been experiencing a really discouraging downfall in recent times. Despite winning two Iterations of The International, the team is currently struggling to remain relevant in the upper division.
OG tried a lot of changes to its lineup in order to boost its performance. The team dismissed Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng and got Anathan “ana” Pham back in hopes of bettering the roster’s competitive potential. However OG failed to qualify for both the Singapore Major and the recent AniMajor and had ana leave on top of it.
With last hopes of qualifying for The International 10 through the regional qualifiers, OG has looked for SumaiL’s help. In the recent months SumaiL played for Team Liquid, one of OG’s rivals. In a recent game Liquid devastated OG which led to the latter being mocked by Team Secret for not keeping SumaiL in the first place.
During SumaiL’s stay in Team Liquid, the team began on a good note and finished second in the Western Europe’s Regional League season. However Liquid failed to keep that momentum going and had a mediocre performance at best during the AniMajor.
OG’s Steep Way to Keeping the Aegis of Champions
As mentioned before, the only hope for OG to win a third The International event in a row, is if the team manages to qualify through the regional qualifiers. OG may have to play against Team Liquid once again, as well as against Tundra Esports and Nigma as all of them struggle to secure a place in the TI10. OG will have to be flawless and score four victories or more if the team hopes to get that one last spot.
OG will have time to test their coordination with SumaiL as the team will now play at the ESL One Summer that is currently ongoing.
The qualifiers for TI10 begin on June 7 in Western Europe. OG’s first game will be against Viking.gg. Only time will tell if OG will live up to its former glory.
