SabeRLight- Hits 12K MMR Live
We’ve all been there, trying to grind that MMR in order to reach a personal goal we’ve set. It takes time, effort, and perseverance – all things that even professional players have to contend with. But unlike most of us, pro players’ goals are far higher, ergo much more difficult to achieve. This is why the crowd was so hyped when TSM Dota 2 offlaner Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek recently reached 12K MMR live on stream.
Volek becomes just one of five other pro players to achieve this coveted goal. This is not the first time he has done so as he first reached 12K MMR back in February. But every player’s performance is not that consistent, so Volek could not maintain that rank for long. However, after months of effort, the Czech player has finally reclaimed his place amongst the few who have reached the 12K MMR goal.
With thousands of eyes watching him, Volek was under a lot of pressure to perform well. He had been grinding tirelessly over the past few days, playing 74 matches, according to Dota 2 Protracker. With an average win rate of 64.9% over the past week, Volek was well on his way to reaching the coveted goal. And on September 18, under the meme-filled cheers of the Twitch chat, the 21-year-old player finally reached 12K MMR.
“It was a good run. We got 12,000 MMR. It was pretty epic,” Volek said at the end of his stream. “I think we all had a tonne of fun and that’s what matters. I certainly did. I appreciate everybody here being with me. It was really cool.”
Having re-conquered the position, Volek is now thinking of his next goal. He talked about the upcoming The International 11, the biggest Dota 2 event of the year, and announced he will take a break from streaming in order to practice for the tournament. “This is my goodbye. I will see you all at TI!” he said.
Volek was instrumental in TSM’s success this year. Without the Czech player’s skills, the organization might not have placed eighth on the ladder with 1380 DPC points. Because of this, TSM was directly qualified for The International 2022 which is scheduled to begin on October 15.
