Kellymilkies Explains Why W33 and Mikoto Refused to Join Alliance

in DOTA 2
January 24, 2022
  • Kellymilkies, the chief strategy officer of Alliance, explained why two of the players the org was targeting refused to join
  • W33 was unhappy with the organization’s betting sponsor because of his religion
  • Mikoto, on the other hand, didn’t want to switch to the European region

Kellymilkies spoke on the topic of Alliance’s new roster and why the organization failed to acquire w33 and Mikoto.

W33’s Religion Barred Him From Joining Alliance

Kelly “kellymilkies” Ong, the chief strategy officer of Alliance, spoke about some of the organization’s recent Dota 2 roster developments and why it refrained from signing Aliwi “w33” Omar, despite fans suggesting him for months.

According to kellymilkies, w33 might be an amazing player but isn’t an exact fit for Alliance. She elaborated that since w33 is religious, he simply would not play for Alliance – an esports organization that is sponsored by the gambling operator VBET. Because of his beliefs, w33 is barred from participating in an organization with ties to betting.

To set the record straight w33 is an amazing player but as rumors have been true – he is religious & is against betting sponsors. VBET are huge Dota fans & fund a majority of our dota2 salaries. We can't do our sponsors dirty like that.
They barely ask for any in return already.

Kellymilkies said that she tried to reach out to the player and reach a compromise solution but to no avail. Kellymilkies emphasized that VBET is a valuable ally of Alliance and helps the organization a lot. Because of this, she decided to let w33 be and stopped seeking further compromise.

Mikoto Didn’t Want to Switch Regions

Alliance’s restructuring comes in the wake of its unremarkable TI10 performance. As is the case with many other organizations, the team began working on its roster and trying to fix its weak spots. While w33 was the popular suggestion for the organization’s new midlaner, it seems that this cannot happen because the player does not feel comfortable playing with Alliance.

Alliance then tried to reach one of the other popular suggestions – Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman from Talon Esports. While Mikoto doesn’t have the same issue with the gambling sponsor, he also felt uncomfortable playing for Alliance mainly because he didn’t want to switch regions and preferred to remain in Southeast Asia.

Instead, Alliance’s Dota 2 squad will be joined by Ondřej “Supream^” Štarha, a former Chicken Fighters member. With his addition, Alliance’s Dota 2 roster is almost complete. Here is Alliance’s current lineup.

  • Adam “Aramis” Moroz
  • Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov
  • Ondřej “Supream^” Štarha
  • Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos

The organization now has to find but a single member before the next DPC season begins.
