Invictus Gaming Defeat Evil Geniuses to Win the Singapore Major

in DOTA 2
April 5, 2021
  • Invictus Gaming are crowned champions of the Dota 2 Singapore Major
  • The team won the title after some close matches against Evil Geniuses
  • Invictus will take home $200,000 and 500 DPC points

After a leading start by Evil Geniuses, Invictus Gaming managed to turn the tides. Invictus defeated their opponents, became the champions of the Dota 2 Singapore Major, and secured the lion's share of the prize pool.

Invictus Gaming's Hard-Earned Win

Invictus Gaming rose against the odds and took down Evil Geniuses in a final battle for the Dota 2 Singapore Major champion title.

The final showdown was a culmination of the last few months of regional leagues. Both teams' players did their best, but the only one can emerge victoriously. Invictus Gaming scored a 3:2 victory after a hard battle.

However, it wasn't just in-game skills that won the Chinese team their victory but also their composure. The final didn't start all too well for them as Evil Geniuses got the first two wins, and we're just a win away from victory. But Invictus kept their calm and managed to overturn the tides of the battle.

The final results were harsh to Evil Geniuses as the team had done almost flawlessly in the Major. Even harsher is the fact that this is their second 3-2 loss in the final of a DPC Major, following a loss against Team Secret in the Leipzig Major.

However, there can be only one victor.

The Grand Final

The final opened with a heated battle between the teams. It lasted almost an hour and saw the rise and fall of Invictus Gaming. The Chinese team had a lead in the game but made some mistakes that Evil Geniuses cleverly exploited to gain an advantage. Evil Geniuses had to sweat for it but eventually took down their opponents and grabbed the first win.

The second game was much more in the North American team's favor. Flyfly from Invictus tried an unorthodox strategy of selecting the barely used in recent competitive play Faceless Void. The strategy backfired and got Evil Geniuses a second win in a much quicker game.

The situation looked dire for Invictus Gaming as Evil Geniuses were just a win away from victory. The Chinese team had to buckle up. Their North American opponents were, in turn, hellbent on scoring the last victory and flawlessly winning the title.

Things proceeded to a heated third game where Invictus Gaming did everything in their power to secure every advantage they could and secured an early lead. Flyfly did his best to compensate for the previous loss. Thanks to his efforts and the ones of the team's mid, Invictus Gaming had a quick farm, and things were looking good for them. Evil Geniuses managed to decimate them in a team fight, but Invictus regrouped, fought back, won the next team fight, and, by extension, the game. Invictus' mid Emo played a significant role in that victory. As the game was won, he typed a simple question mark in the chat, much to the bemusement of fans worldwide.

Invictus Gaming was finally back on track and quickly won the next game by a margin.

The score was now 2-2, and Evil Geniuses were feeling the heat. Moreover, in the last game flyfly picked up Spectre and, through a breathtaking play, remained undefeated until the end of the game. Evil Geniuses were losing ground and eventually lost.

Invictus Gaming became the champions of the Dota 2 Singapore Major. They got their hands on the grand prize of $200,000 and 500 DPC points. Moreover, they confirmed their slot at the International 10 and will have a top 2 placement in the second season of the regional leagues.
