DPC Division 1 NA: EG vs Undying Odds & Preview – January 12, 2022

in DOTA 2
January 11, 2022
  • The game between Team Undying and Evil Geniuses offers some outstanding odds for either selection
  • Team Undying have been unstoppable in the DPC Division 1 NA bar a small hiccup against Quincy Crew
  • Evil Geniuses could yield better profit, but we would go backing Team Undying to win and correct score here

The DPC North American Division 1 has been going strong with the rivalry between Quincy Crew and Team Undying really keeping fans pumped. Things did get a little anticlimactic after Quincy inflicted the first loss on UD, settling who the group’s leader is – for now at least.

Team Undying will be playing against Evil Geniuses on Wednesday, January 12 for a chance to add one more victory to its name. Admittedly, EG have had a rough spell and they will need to pull themselves together to avoid another loss which could push them further down the group’s pecking order.

A quick look at the odds gives EG (2.06) versus Team Undying (1.68) which is not such a great difference and if anything, it suggests that we are about to see a highly contested game on Wednesday.

DPC China 2022: EG vs Undying Odds – January 12, 2022

EG Preview (Jan 12, 2022)

Evil Geniuses run in the Dota Pro Circuit has not been bad so far. The first two weeks of play were somewhat challenging. EG managed to win its opener game in Week 1 versus Arkosh but lost the next two matches versus BNY and WG. With the team rallying, they managed to win against sT and 4Z for a total of 3-2.

Team Undying will be the biggest challenge they have faced so far. So, where are EG’s strengths and weaknesses? The team has retained most of its TI roster but iceiceice and Fly have withdrawn and play for Team Secret and Talon Esports respectively.

Since this is not the beginning of the DPC, we have some time to observe EG’s play. It’s not lacking, and they have a good dynamic, but there are those moments of the gameplay where they come slightly short of the mark and fail to deliver.

The game against Undying will be quite important for EG, as UD and Quincy have been dominating the groups. This game will prove valuable for EG as it would allow them to collect enough data to bring their A-game in the upcoming Major tournaments as well.

Team Undying Preview (Jan 12, 2022)

Team Undying are a self-promoted team that clawed a name for themselves in the crucible of the DPC. They went to The International and secured the fifth spot, one spot ahead of Evil Geniuses.

Undying have been consistently delivering on great results this DPC. They won all of their first four games, but finally lost against Team Quincy, in a highly contested 2-1. Undying’s starter roster has remained unchanged as the team is clearly looking to give it its best.

With Undying hardly having achieved their best, they will put a fight and seek to score 6-1 in the league. EG will have to give it their best if just to prove that they can take on a top team and defeat them.

So far as betting goes here, it really is a toss-up between the two. We would argue that Team Undying have been better over the past months and we are inclined to back them. Here is something important to remember. At odds of (1.68), you will actually be making a profit, as the general rule is anything above (1.50) is already great odds.

  • Pick: Team Undying to win (1.68)
  • Pick: Correct Score 1-2 (3.22)
