DPC China: EHOME vs RNG Odds & Preview – January 10, 2022

in DOTA 2
January 9, 2022
  • EHOME is looking strong in the DPC China Division at 2-0
  • Royal Never Give up are posted as strong favorites as 1.39
  • EHOME lost two players to RNG in the summer of 2021

The DPC China Division is in full swing, and we have quite a few games to look forward to. The tournament has seen PSG.LGD and EHOME push to the very top of the division rankings while other teams have had to settle for lesser positions.

The upcoming match between EHOME and Royal Never Give Up on Monday, January 10 promises to be everything you have come to expect from the highly competitive region. EHOME is pulling some impressive plays this year, and this is why we feel confident that the team has a great chance of breaking into TI11 later in 2022.

The odds seem to favor RNG at the time of writing and we think this is a mistake. Let’s take a look at what is happening in this matchup.

DPC China 2022: EHOME vs RNG Odds – January 10, 2022

  • EHOME to win at 2.77
  • Royal Never Give Up to win at 1.39

EHOME Preview (Jan 10, 2022)

EHOME did not qualify for The International 10 and overall, the team has not done so well in competitive Dota 2. The team is a legacy, and it dominated the competitive scene long before Dota transitioned to a standalone game. Its most recent performance though has been poor to say the least.

EHOME missed several big events and failed to make any measurable impact in DPC. So, why would we want to put our money on EHOME? It’s simple. They are currently 2-0 in the overall standing and while they took out iG and Phoenix, which are not the top teams in the league, EHOME has shown consistency.

The franchise did have to overhaul its team quickly, though, and invited the majority of its new players in November. Nicholas Lim Eng Han is presently only a stand-in, and the five-man squad will have an interesting game ahead.

The good news is that EHOME already defeated iG in the division, which has a former team member who left in mid-2021. Guo “Xm” Hongcheng is playing for Invictus Gaming. With odds such as 2.77, there should be a reason, though, why RNG seems to be such a strong favorite.

Royal Never Give Up Preview (Jan 10, 2022)

Royal Never Give Up are not a top-seeded team, but they do have a lot of talented players to speak of. The organization launched into professional Dota 2 in 2018, so it has had some years to polish its play. Today, RNG has two of EHOME’s former players who left in July 2021, i.e. Yang “Chalice” Shenyi and Yap “xNova” Jian Wei. xNova and Chalice were seen as the backbone of the EHOME roster, and they have inside knowledge into how the organization works.

A possible argument here is that because of that experience, RNG have an almost unfair advantage and are understandably posted at 1.39. However, RNG should really tread lightly here as they hardly know what the new team is capable of.

Another advantage Royal Never Give Up has, though, is the fact that they have not had to do as many changes to their rosters. Poaching EHOME’s players in 2021 was their last major roster change, and they feel confident.

While we have every reason to believe RNG will pull an impressive play here, we are also fairly confident that EHOME have a very good chance of securing a win in the game. We will therefore be sticking with the following picks:

  • Pick: EHOME to win (2.77)
  • Pick: EHOME correct score 2-1 (4.60)
