Alchemist Aghanim’s Scepter Bug Grants Teammates 4,200 Gold

in DOTA 2
March 15, 2021
  • A new Aghanim's Scepter bug involving Alchemist can grant a teammate quick 10,000 and melted buffs
  • The bug has been highlighted in a video segment and involves the melting and regular trading of Aghanim's Scepter
  • Aghanim's Scepter can be shared with a number of teammates that can benefit from both the gold boost as well as net gain in abilities

A new bug involving Alchemist and Aghanim's Scepters can quickly lead to 10,000 gold surge for a teammate.

Alchemist Can Use Two Aghanim's to Earn 4,200 Gold for a Teammate

Since the ability to share complete items was introduced to Dota 2, Alchemist has become a sacred cash cow in all senses of the word. Competitive powerhouses such as Nigma and OG have demonstrated how potent it can be to run Alchemist in the offlane and have him fend for himself until the character has farmed up an Aghanim's Scepter that can be shared with allies.

Well, through an interesting bug involving not one but two Aghanim's Scepters, an ally may receive 4,200 gold on top. Not too steep a cost for Alchemist to pay, but certainly a significant financial jab for even the most well-to-do player. The video below highlights how the bug works.

In essence, the bug is akin to the “refunding” interaction, which is not the case here, though. Instead, Alchemist farms up two scepters. The first one is traded by just placing it into an ally's inventory, so no melting here.

The second, though, will be transferred via the Aghanim's Scepter Synth option, which “melts” and bestows the buffs of the scepter onto the recipient. Once this melting process is completed, the Aghanim's Scepter in your ally's inventory is sold automatically, yielding the whopping 4,200 gold units.

A Huge Chunk of Money Going the Way of an Ally

Yet, this is not the actual net worth your ally is now enjoying. For all intents and purposes, the price of the actual scepter should be factored in, giving a grand total of approximately 10,000 gold units. Alchemist is an incredibly self-sufficient character with high survivability and stacking gold ability.

To stop him from getting there, Alchemist must be zoned out of the lane to stifle his progress, but thanks to the hero's high built-in armor and health gain, this proves a difficult task for a solo character to do, or even a pair of characters. The character can pretty much carry on with little more than Power Treads and Urn of Shadows, which adds to an already exceptional survivability.

An offlane Alchemist should take about the 20th-minute mark to farm up the Aghanim's Scepter, giving an immediate power spike to a fellow hero. Should a second scepter arrive within 10 minutes, this is easily a massive power surge for any character that can benefit from Aghanim's buffs.
