With great sadness, the close friends of Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj shared that he has passed away on December 10.

Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj Has Passed Away

The Dutch professional Dota 2 athlete Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj has unfortunately passed away, his loved ones shared on social media. The 29-year old was known for playing professionally, streaming and even commenting on Dota 2 esports games.

The news of Faraj’s passing came simultaneously from both his closest friends, teammates and other community people who knew him well. As of the time of this writing, there is no official statement given.

The ones who shared the unfortunate news didn’t specify what caused the player’s passing and asked fans to please not make any speculations.

Faraj’s brother appealed to the Dota 2 community and asked anyone who happens to have a picture with the player to send it over.

Faraj Really Loved Dota 2

With Faraj gone, and his close ones mourning, it would be best if people cherish his memory and not press for information. With this being said, let us take a look at Faraj’s professional career in Dota.

The player started out in the original Dota, competing with players even before Dota 2 came out in 2011. Then, once the new title rolled up, Bamboe joined and has never stopped playing since. The pro switched 18 different teams throughout his career. He has played both for big and small teams, with some of the most notable ones including Team Bald, Evil Geniuses, mousesports and Team Zephyr.

Faraj’s time with Zephyr saw him play on the South Korean scene but he eventually returned to Europe.

Faraj’s last stint was with Team Bald Reborn during the first season of this year’s Dota Pro Circuit. The team ended up in 5-8 place in the DreamLeague Season 14 DPC EU Open Qualifier.

When not competing, Faraj would stream Dota 2 content. He had a true passion for Dota 2 and really loved the game, its competitive scene and its community.

It is truly unfortunate that the Dota 2 scene has lost such a great player. Hopefully, people will remember him as the passionate esports athlete that he was.
