Dev1ce has joined Unsigned Group in a bid to pursue fresh opportunities and meaningful changes in the esports ecosystem.
Unsigned Group Signs Dev1ce
Coinciding with his abrupt transfer from Astralis to Betway-sponsored Ninjas in Pyjamas, Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz has become a member of Unsigned Group, a talent agency co-owned by Guy Berryman.
In fact, Unsigned Group helped dev1ce make the transition to NiP, an official press release stated. Moving forward, the agency will manage dev1ce’s professional career, helping him with endorsement, licensing deals, and more.
Dev1ce himself was pretty interesting in outlining his thoughts on the career move and the esports ecosystem as a whole. “Esports has been considered the Wild West in player management for too long,” the CS:GO player said.
That is no more, though, because dev1ce and Unsigned will work together on creating real and interesting opportunities in the real esports space, the player has said. “I’m really excited to be working together and for people to see our plans and for others to be on the journey with us,” he added.
Making a Change in Esports
Dev1ce is keen on bringing innovation to esports, and part of this is ending his five-year career at Astralis, arguably the world’s best Counter-Strike team over the past years, a success in which the player had his part. Now, dev1ce will be playing with NiP for three years with the option to extend his contract further.
Unsigned CEO Gavin Myall commented on the player’s signing, transition, and the overall growth of the esports ecosystem. One thing, though, Myall noted, was the fact that, unlike traditional sports, esports athletes have not been represented quite the same way, something that Unsigned is now looking to amend.
“Player management and the IP that is created with and around them is paramount to building a long-term career in the business: gaining access to the sport, the clubs, players and the fans is essential for brands on a global scale,” Myall explained, and added that dev1ce was a key partner to achieving what the agency has set out to do from the start.
As to Betway, the sportsbook has been a constant part of the landscape, sponsoring various teams, including Ninjas in Pyjamas, and most recently renewing its partnership with MIBR’s all-female CS:GO roster.
