Following last week’s rumors that David “dav1g” Granado might rejoin Movistar Riders, the Spanish organization confirmed it is signing the 22-year-old player back into its Counter-Strike 2 lineup.
Dav1g Rejoins Main Roster
Spanish esports organization Movistar Riders has been undergoing a change in its roster over the past couple of weeks as it recently saw 27-year-old Counter-Strike veteran Alejandro “alex” Masanet be transferred to Ninjas in Pyjamas. This left a void in the Spaniards’ lineup, which the org decided to fill with David “dav1g” Granado who Movistar Riders announced earlier today that he has been added to the team.
The 22-year-old player is no stranger to the organization’s team. In fact, he is returning to its main roster, having been moved to the bench earlier this summer. Dav1g has been part of Movistar Riders since the middle of 2021, but when the org decided to sign Adam “adamS” Marian and Tiago “JUST” Moura in July of this year, the player had to be moved to the bench to make room for the newcomers.
The news of dav1g’s return to the team confirmed recent rumors which suggested Movistar Riders would come to this decision. While not being part of MR’s main roster, dav1g did not stay empty-handed. Instead, he Project G, a small mixed European team, which he helped put together.
With it, he participated in the CCT East Europe Series 4 Closed Qualifier and was crucial in the team qualifying for the main event. This kept the player in shape as he eventually posted an impressive 1.21 rating across ten maps and also gave him the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an in-game leader. This is why Movistar Riders decided to make him the squad’s new IGL.
Dav1g will be making his re-debut with the team on Tuesday, November 7. He would not have it easy as Movistar Riders will have to go up against FORZE in stage two of ESL Challenger League Season 46 Europe. Later in November, MR will also participate in the closed qualifier for the $100,000 ESL Challenger Atlanta. Currently, Movistar Riders’ roster looks like this:
- Alejandro “mopoz” Fernández-Quejo Cano
- Antonio “Martinez” Martinez
- Adam “adamS” Marian
- Tiago “JUST” Moura
- David “dav1g” Granado Bermudo
- Galder “bladE” Barcena (coach)
