  • NVIDIA GeForce Now data leak shows interesting new unannounced titles
  • Anecdotal evidence suggest Blizzard might be working on a new FPS
  • Fans come up with theories linking the new potential game to existing Blizzard titles

A recent major NVIDIA GeForce Now data leak shows the name of a potential new Blizzard game in the making. Here’s what we know so far.

Big Data Leak Reveals an Unexpected Title

A few days ago, a GeForce NOW user managed to “unlock” a vast number of games on the platform. There were some that are as of yet to be officially announced. Nevertheless, users have already been sifting through them.

Amongst the full list of unlocked games, which you can see here if you’re interested, you can spot expected Blizzard titles such as Overwatch, Diablo, and Heroes of the Storm.  However, if you scroll down to numbers 1155 and 1156 you will see an unfamiliar name – Iris.

It is still unknown if this is a project led by Blizzard or Activision, but considering Iris is flanked by Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch, both being Blizzard games, it is safe to say that the former studio is the one responsible for the development.

Is There Any Other Evidence Blizzard Is Planning Something Big?

Other factors might indicate that Blizzard is working on something new. If you look up Blizzard’s “hiring” page you will see that the studio is searching for people with experience in the FPS genre for work on as of yet unannounced projects. Of course, it is impossible to say for sure that those job offers are specifically for the production of Iris.

Some fans have theorized that the leaked title might somehow be linked to Overwatch, joking that Overwatch 2 is finally in the making. The funny claim is not too farfetched. As some other fans have pointed out one of Zenyatta’s voice lines says “Gaze into the Iris.” Could this be a reference to some Overwatch sequel or spin-off?

This is what we know so far about Iris – a name, some vague references, and a ton of jokes. Whatever the case may be, we could be in for a surprise in next year’s BlizzCon.
