WePlay Esports Becomes BLAST’s Official Russian Broadcaster

in Counter Strike
July 29, 2021
  • WePlay Esports has been chosen by BLAST to operate the broadcasts of its CS:GO events in CIS
  • The deal covers all remaining 2021 BLAST events and the whole 2022 season
  • BLAST’s vice president excitedly commented on the partnership

WePlay Esports became the exclusive CIS broadcaster of BLAST’s CS:GO events.

A Two-Year Deal

Not too long after being chosen as the broadcaster of the PLG Major in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Ukrainian event organizer WePlay Esports has scored another broadcasting deal. This time it is with event organizer BLAST Premier and will cover the remainder of this year and the whole 2022 season.

We are thrilled to announce a two-year deal with @WePlay_Esports for the exclusive broadcasting rights in the CIS region 🔥

By becoming BLAST Premier’s partner, WePlay will have the responsible task of managing the Russian broadcast of all BLAST-related Counter-Strike events in the years, covered by the deal. Those include:

  • BLAST Premier Fall Groups, September 16-26
  • BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, October 12-17
  • BLAST Premier Fall Final, November 24-28
  • BLAST Premier World Final, December 14-19
  • The whole upcoming 2022 season of BLAST events

BLAST Premier’s vice president of distribution and programming, Alexander Lewin, commented on his organization’s excitement about working together with WePlay Esports. Lewin realizes the importance of the Commonwealth of Independent States fans to the Counter-Strike ecosystem and wants to deliver them the best experience possible.

WePlay Esports: An Increasingly Sought Partner

Other than being selected as the broadcaster of the CS:GO Major, WePlay Esports has become quite a name in the European esports industry. The organization is known to host events with unique attention to detail and a special thematic WePlay touch. One of the most recent examples is the Dota 2 AniMajor that sported anime atmosphere.

WePlay Esports had even proposed their help when the Dota 2 The International 10 experienced difficulties with the Swedish government.

WePlay is also no stranger to CS:GO and the CIS community, which makes it a suitable choice for broadcasting BLAST’s events. CS:GO itself has a special place in many CIS hearts and is one of the most popular competitive games in the region. According to Esports Charts data, 2020 viewership of CS:GO esports sat at a whopping 200 million hours watched. WePlay knows that and will add its special touch to assure that the Russian broadcast lives up to the community’s expectations.

BLAST Premier isn’t known to cut corners when it comes to securing the best partners in the industry. The event organizer recently partnered with the industry giants Amazon and Twitch and earlier secured strategic partnership deals with crypto exchange Coinbase and IT company Shikenso Analytics.
