Timofey “interz” Yakushin Leaves Cloud9’s CS:GO Roster

in Counter Strike
March 22, 2023
  • The 22-year-old player is now a free agent
  • His career spans back to Gambit Youngsters alongside names like nafany and sh1ro
  • Unfortunately, his performance had dropped significantly in the latter half of 2022

After spending two months on Cloud9’s inactive roster, Timofey “interz” Yakushin has left, the organization announced.

Internz and C9 Part Ways

Timofey “interz” Yakushin has been one of Cloud9’s chief talents, but this is the case no more as it was announced he is leaving the organization. The player and C9 part ways after interz was part of the core consisting of himself, Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov, Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov, and Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov, with the quarter’s partnership extending back to their time in Gambit Youngsters in 2019.

End of an era 😔

We want to thank @interz for helping C9 CS:GO become an international powerhouse once again and wish him luck in his future endeavors 💙 pic.twitter.com/vgZI1LnS03

However, interz has not been able to play with his long-time teammates for the past two months. In January this year, the 22-year-old player was put on C9’s inactive roster due to the team’s poor end of 2022. He was then replaced by Kazakhstan player Timur “buster” Tulepov.

Despite being relatively young by the standards of the CS:GO player base, internz already has a lot of impressive achievements under his belt, making him a valuable addition to his future team. During his time playing for Gambit, he helped his team place first at IEM Katowice 2021 and BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021, earning the No. 1 spot on the world ranking. He and his teammates remained at the top of the ladder until Natus Vincere dethroned them in July of that year following their win at IEM Cologne.

In the first half of 2022, internz and his teammates briefly competed under the banner of Players, when many Russian-based CS:GO teams were banned from attending events as a response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In April of the same year, internz’s squad was acquired by Cloud9, and the player later lifted his first BIg Event trophy at IEM Dallas. Averaging a 1.04 rating at the event, his performances in the later stages of the tournament caught the eye.

interz recorded a 1.47 rating against BIG in the semi-finals and a 1.29 score in the last match against ENCE — a series of significant overperformances compared to his average 0.99 rating in 2022. Unfortunately, the player’s performance dropped after that, with internz managing only one event in the green, scoring a 1.08 rating at ESL Pro League Season 16.

The last time internz played a tournament for C9 was the IEM Rio Major, where the team quickly gained favorite status after eliminating other big teams like Vitality and Natus Vincere. However, underdogs MOUZ defeated Cloud9 in the quarter-finals, denying the team and internz the chance to go further, which ultimately played a part in the player’s benching.

Now that internz’ time in C9’s inactive roster has ended, he thanked his former teammates and said he is open to offers from many regions.
