Rumors Say Ninjas in Pyjamas Are in Talks about Selling Dev1ce

in Counter Strike
September 14, 2022
  • Sources claim NiP is talking with Astralis to transfer the star CS:GO player
  • NiP is allegedly demanding a hefty price for the transfer
  • Dev1ce has before said he would like to return to Astralis

One of the best professional CS:GO AWPers, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, might return to Astralis if recent rumors are to be believed.

NiP Allegedly In Talks With Astralis

Esports organizations often put players in inactive rosters as a prelude to releasing them or transferring them to other teams. This seems to be the case for Ninjas in Pyjamas, who for some time now have kept star AWPer Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz in the inactive roster, partly due to the player’s personal request. However, recent rumors suggest NiP are in the process of talks to sell the player.

According to sources close to Jaxon, NiP has been talking to Danish organization Astralis about the transfer of dev1ce, a team the player has formerly been a part of. Of course, a CS:GO star such as dev1ce comes with a heavy price tag, and according to Jaxon’s sources, NIP are looking for “a fair market price, which isn’t much above what NIP bought him for.”

Nothing has been officially stated, but it’s likely the talks are still in the early stages. So far the rumors say that the two organizations are still discussing the player’s transfer fee, which is said to be €1 000 000 – about the same amount that NiP paid when it first acquired the player.

Dev1ce Wants to Return to Astralis

When looking at dev1ce’s career, it’s easy to see why the price for the transfer can go into the seven-digit numbers. The player is widely considered to be one of the best CS:GO players in the world and his four won Majors are a good proof of that.

However, many professional players sometimes can suffer burnout, especially when playing at such a high level for so long. This is the case for dev1ce as well, who in early 2022 benched himself, citing burnout and fatigue as reasons.

But as time passed, it seems dev1ce is once again ready to climb the professional stage. Back in August, it was reported that dev1ce was exploring options outside of NiP to make his return and had preliminary talks with several teams.

He has expressed the desire to return to Astralis on multiple occasions, and it’s perhaps easy to see why, when looking at his record. Dev1ce was part of the Danish team from January 2016 to April 2021, helping it become the best CS:GO team in the world between 2018 and 2019.

It’s been a long time since the player took a break from professional CS:GO, but fans might still have to wait more if they want to see the star AWPer return on the big stage.
