Pinnacle Cup Debuts in March with Relog Media and Trustly

in Counter Strike
February 22, 2021
  • The Pinnacle Cup is getting underway on March 3 with a prize pool of $100,000
  • Pinnacle is hosting the CS:GO event with Relog Media and Trustly
  • A total of 32 teams will compete for first and second place awarding $80,000 and $20,000 respectively

The Pinnacle Cup is about to get underway on March 3 in collaboration with Relog Media and Trustly.

Pinnacle Launches CS:GO Cup in Early March

Esports bookmaker Pinnacle has teamed up with Relog Media and Trustly to launch a dedicated Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition on March 3. The Pinnacle Cup will feature a $100,000 prize pool and be available to highly-ranked teams, putting the focus on competitive CS:GO in March.

The finals are going to be played in the first weekend of April, with the winner biting $80,000 out of the prize pool, and the runner-up claiming $20,000. Relog will be in charge of producing the event and Trustly and Pinnacle will work closely together to create various content pieces and interviews with players and talent in a bid to raise awareness for the event.

Meanwhile, Relog Media will work with its broadcast company, The Esports Bible, and air the event on TEBTV at Twitch. The company has tapped GRID as the exclusive data partner of the event to improve the broadcast experience and bring more dedicated fan-focused content through actionable data solutions.

The event itself will feature 32 teams, and not least Nemiga, Winstrike, HAVU, GODSENT, and others. The tournament has a Play-in, Swiss Stage and Playoffs, reuniting a number of established squads within the community.

While the event isn't geared towards the likes of Astralis, BIG or Team Liquidity, the competition promises to focus on worthwhile contenders.

Pinnacle Hopes to Start a New Competitive Event Tradition

Commenting on the news Pinnacle Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Ben Cove said that the company's team has worked hard to make the event happen. Cove expressed optimism about the future of the format and said that esports is all in Pinnacle's DNA. He didn't spare his company praise:

“We know Pinnacle delivers the best esports odds, now we want to show that we can contribute to exceptional events that create mass appeal – resonating with a wide global audience, from those who are new to the scene, through to the hard-core esports community.”

Pinnacle Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Ben Cove

Cove has a point. Pinnacle is one of the early adopters of esports markets, having done so as a fully-fledged product and not just a gateway to traditional sports betting. The company has long been at the forefront of esports betting. Now, it will try to get more involved with actually hosting events.

In November, Pinnacle became an official sponsor for FLASHPOINT, a CS:GO league formed that same month. The company is competing neck-and-neck with Betway, a rival betting company, that sponsors CS:GO teams and the BLAST Series, arguably the most attractive Counter-Strike tournament held annually and at multiple locations around the world.
