April 15, 2022
  • After battling a fellow Brazilian squad, MIBR became the first CS:GO team to secure a spot at the PGL Antwerp Major
  • The game saw MIBR decimate Imperial at the Regional Major Ranking with a 2-1 record
  • MIBR missed the event last year and has now made up for its past failure

MIBR defeated Imperial and became the first team to qualify for this year’s PGL Antwerp Major.

MIBR Faced Off Against Imperial

MIBR, a professional Brazilian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad, has redeemed its 2021 failure by becoming the first team to qualify for this year’s PGL Antwerp Major. The organization secured its spot at the big event by defeating Imperial at the PGL Antwerp Major Americas Regional Major Ranking.

When MIBR and Imperial faced off, both had won two games and didn’t have a single loss. However, this was soon about to change. Imperial was a fearsome opponent thanks to several big athletes playing under its banner. To score a victory and secure a place at the Major, MIBR had to first go through Imperial’s robust roster that features the following players:

  • Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo
  • Fernando “fer” Alvarenga
  • Lincoln “fnx” Lau
  • Ricardo “boltz” Prass
  • Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo

Imperial seemed poised for victory and quickly grabbed the first map (Inferno) with a 16-12 record.

MIBR Made a Comeback

The second map, Vertigo, saw MIBR buckle up. Not wanting to lose another game, the athletes gave it their best, decimating Imperial’s resistance and winning the map with an impressive 16-8 record.

The third and final map was Nuke where MIBR once again demonstrated how bullish it is on winning. The team quickly forced its opponents to go on the defensive, once again dominating the game. In the end, MIBR won the map by 16-10 and, by extension, won the match.

MIBR’s players did their best to secure this victory and send the team directly to the PGL Antwerp Major. Here is the lineup that managed to secure the first stop at the big event:

  • Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes
  • Raphael “exit” Lacerda
  • Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato
  • Matheus “Tuurtle” Anhaia
  • Jhonatan “JOTA” Willian

Chelo and JOTA played key roles in MIBR’s eventual victory as both finished the match with 61 takedowns. Thanks to their efforts, MIBR won’t miss a second PGL Major in a row. The Brazilian powerhouse will be joined by 23 other teams which are yet to be announced.

Imperial fans shouldn’t worry yet as the team will have more chances to qualify for the event during the Regional Major Ranking.
