  • Team Liquid has set itself a lofty goal this year
  • EliGe says his team wants to finally win a CS:GO Major
  • The team has not yet won such an event

Team Liquid’s Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski said that this year Team Liquid should finally win a CS:GO Major and outlined how the organization plans to do it.

EliGe Outlines Liquid’s Goal

We are well into 2023 now and this year’s competitive CS:GO season. BLAST Premier has been running its Spring Groups this month, an event that has already seen a lot of action – from interesting matches to drama involving FaZe’s replacement players

Another team that has been making headlines in the tournament is Team Liquid. Like many other organizations, Liquid has set itself some big goals for this year. One of the team’s riflers, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, recently talked about what the team’s plans for this competitive season are.

In an interview with James Banks on Jan. 24, EliGe boldly proclaimed that Liquid’s main target this year is to win a Major. It’s a difficult goal to reach in itself, but even more so, considering the team has not won such an event before. “Our main goal is to be winning the Major in a couple of months and have a super strong Katowice,” the 25-year-old player said.

How Liquid Plans to Do This?

The player was keen to point out that Vitality would be trying its hardest to qualify for BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2023 through Spring Groups 2023. EliGe even shared a bit about what the team is doing currently to better their chances of achieving their goals. The team is working on their map pool during BLAST Spring Groups in the hopes to diversify their portfolio.

“It’s just a lot of stuff for us to learn and we’re not going to be taking it too hard,” EliGe said. He additionally pointed out Team Liquid’s best map is Mirage but said they do not play it that much precisely because of that. The player explained that Liquid has to work on different maps and not just rely on their proficiency on Mirage.

The goal that Liquid has placed itself is not an easy one, but it’s definitely now out of the organization’s reach. EliGe has been with Liquid since 2016 and up until now, he has come close to winning a Major with Liquid three times. These include MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016 and at FACEIT Major: London 2018 when Liquid reached the semifinals on both occasions. Perhaps their biggest achievement was in 2016 when they reached the finals of ESL One: Cologne but unfortunately lost to SK Gaming.

Perhaps this year will finally see Team liquid raise the coveted Major trophy above their heads.
