Valve will be inspiring creative fans of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive by hosting a big skin contest with a million in prizes.
The Dreams and Nightmares Contest
Valve released some exciting news for all artsy fans of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The game company will be holding a contest for in-game skin design. The top 10 submissions will be included in the game, and their creators will receive a share of the prize pool of $1 million.
The art contest will be based around the theme “Dreams & Nightmares.” All submitted ideas must correspond to the theme. Valve opened the contest on July 22, but fans will be able to submit their ideas until October 21.
In order to facilitate the work of all passionate participants, the video game company provided them with thoughtful information about creating skins, skin rarity, and skin finishes.
The developers announced that they would favor skins that propose different rarity and finish variants.
Competing Creatively for a Million Dollars
Valve will be making the Dreams & Nightmares contest even more competitive as it would allow for unlimited entries per person. Not only that, but a single person can win more than one of the ten prizes. Additionally, people who wish to collaborate on a project will be allowed to do so as long as all participants are properly credited.
In total, 15 skins will be making their way to the game – two coverts, three classified, five restricted, and seven military spec. These are the following:
- Covert: AK-47, MP-9
- Classified: MP-7, Dual Berettas, FAMAS
- Restricted: XM-1014, PP-Bizon, G3SG1, M4A1-S, USP-S
- Military Spec: Five-SeveN, SCAR-20, MAG-7, P2000, Sawed-Off, MAC-10, MP5-SD
Valve will not claim ownership of any submissions that it receives as a part of the Dreams & Nightmares contest.
The company has always supported player creativity. Since the release of CS: GO a decade ago, the workshop was always there as an outlet for players to unleash their artistic skills. Some of the best entries have been chosen and added to a case, which is precisely what is planned for Dreams & Nightmares.
Fans can see more about the contest and its rules on the official site dedicated to the competition.
