DjL Will Be Joining NiP’s Coaching Staff

in Counter Strike
January 10, 2022
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas is undergoing significant changes to its CS:GO roster and coaching staff
  • Rumors say they are eyeing up djL as the new head coach
  • DjL’s coaching career spans almost half a decade and will come in handy

According to rumors, Ninjas in Pyjamas is looking to sign former GamerLegion and Copenhagen Flames coach Daniel “djL” Narancic.

NiP Are Looking for a New Coach

With the nearing start of the 2022 CS:GO season approaching, teams are rebuilding rosters and staff, and this includes Ninjas in Pyjamas. Lately, NiP is said to be eyeing up Daniel “djL” Narancic. The organization’s CS:GO roster has been without a head coach since December when Björn “THREAT” Pers transitioned to a technical role within NiP.

(1/2) Some exciting news: IEMW is my last event as Head Coach as I'll move into a role as Technical Director of all our CS efforts. While I love being onstage with the guys, I love even more to get really stuck into the tactical stuff and seeing my plans unfold on the server.

— Björn Pers (@THREAT_CS) December 1, 2021

THREAT has been Ninjas in Pyjamas’ head coach from the period between 2016 and 2021. He did not, however, attend the last event of last year’s season, the BLAST Premier World Final. NiP did not do all too well on that event and soon after that saw one of its star players, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, leave the organization. It is rumored he wants to return playing for Astralis. French sources state that NiP’s poor performance last year is a major factor prompting dei1ce’s departure. He has since been replaced by academy AWPer Love “phzy” Smidebrant.

NiP Confirm They Will Be Signing DjL

With key players and staff either leaving or transitioning to other roles, Ninjas in Pyjamas are looking for qualified personnel to fill the gaps. Rumors said that the organization would want to sign Daniel “djL” Narancic. Since then, these rumors have been confirmed by Jonas “calc” Gundersen, who is NiP’s Chief Operating Officer.

“It’s true,” Gundersen writes in a tweet. “DjL is joining our coaching staff.” He goes on to explain there will be an official statement from the organization, that will also explain details around the deal. Fans, however, will have to wait, as NiP are still on a player break.

It's true @djLCSGO is joining our coaching staff. Just wait for the announcement, and the full picture will be given – we are all still on player break 🤟🥷 https://t.co/BMAD7wkLYk

When djL joins NiP’s CS:GO roster, he will find a familiar face in the team’s in-game leader, Hampus ”hampus” Poser. The former coached the latter before during his time in charge of Red Reserve and GamerLegion in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Both also had a brief stint together, playing for GamerLegion.

DjL is currently the assistant coach for Apeks. His first coaching job was with the Swedish organization Red Reserve back in 2017. With many seasons in different teams, the 27-year-old coach has gained experience, that NiP will need in the upcoming season.

The organization’s roster for 2022 could look like this:

  • Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
  • Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora
  • Hampus “hampus” Poser
  • Nicolai “device” Reedtz
  • Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
  • Sweden Daniel “djL” Narancic (coach)
