Complexity Reveals New Its CS:GO Roster

in Counter Strike
January 19, 2022
  • The new team is built around a core of former Extra Salt players
  • Complexity stayed without a CS:GO roster since October
  • Jason Lake, Complexity’s CEO says he is happy to have young talents represent the organization in this year’s events

After weeks of rumors, Complexity has finally unveiled their new CS:GO roster, featuring veterans from Extra Salt, Team Liquid, and FURIA.

Complexity Signs a New Players

BLAST recently announced their plans for the 2022 CS:GO season and organizations are still scrambling to complete and train their rosters. One of these orgs, who seemingly left things for the latest moment, is Complexity, which recently revealed their lineup for this year. They have recently signed former Team Liquid rifler Michael “Grim” Wince, and FURIA AWPer Paytyn “junior” Johnson. But the core of the new team is built around the Extra Salt trio of Johnny “JT” Theodosiou, Justin “FaNg” Coakley, Ricky “floppy” Kemery, with Tiaan “T.c” Coertzen, also formerly from Extra Salt, acting as coach.

A storied past renewed.

The Fall of Juggernaut

Complexity has been without a CS:GO roster since October 2021, when their old team, colloquially known as the Juggernaut, did not manage to qualify for the PGL. After the unsuccessful season, the team broke apart, with some players being released, while others finding new organizations to play for.

Patrick “es3tag” Hansen went on to compete for Ninjas in Pyjamas, while Stars Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke and Benjamin “blameF” Bremer joined Astralis. Meanwhile, Valentin “poizon” Vasilev and Marcelo “coldzera” David were released. The only player left from Complexity’s former roster is Justin “jks” Savage and he currently remains under contract with Complexity.

Interestingly enough, this current lineup isn’t Complexity’s first choice of players. The org was initially interested in acquiring the Copenhagen Flames’ roster, but negotiations for that fell through.

A New Hope Is Rising

Complexity is one of the oldest Counter-Strike organizations in the world. As an organization, they were created in 2003 and fielded their first team in 2004, way before the advent of CS: Source. Since they’re such a staple in the Counter-Strike scene, it came as a shock when they dissolute their roster three months ago. However, in late December rumors started that the org will return to the scene with a new lineup, which have since become true.

Jason Lake, Complexity’s CEO, said in a statement that the organization is “taking the knowledge and experience that we’ve gained over the past 18 years to support the North American region.” He added he is proud to have a young and determined group of players represent Complexity on the CS:GO circuit.

The new team will make its debut on January 19 when they play Gambit in the Funspark ULTI Finals.
