BIG, FURIA and Heroic Sign a $20 Million Partnership with ESL

in Counter Strike
October 22, 2021
  • BIG, FURIA and Heroic join 12 other organizations as ESL’s partners
  • Bids from the three organizations were almost $20 million
  • ESL bigwigs are delighted that the new deal will help competitive CS:GO grow

BIG, FURIA and Heroic are all now officially partners of one of the biggest tournament organizers in CS:GO esports – ESL.

The Three Organizations Sign a Lucrative Deal

On October 21, ESL announced that the three organizations, name BIG, FURIA, and Heroic, have signed the so-called “Louvre Agreement” with the major esports organizer. This means that each of the three organizations will receive a share of revenues and profits from the ESL Pro Tour, and will also have a guaranteed spot in the ESL Pro League.

In a press release, released by ESL, the tournament organizer said that the total bids from the three organizations were almost $20 million. According to the contract, BIG and FURIA’s partnership is in effect immediately but Heroic’s will start in the second half of 2022. This is because of a recent investigation by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC). It cleared Heroic’s players of the controversial claims made by their former coach Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen.

This delay is needed for Heroic to restructure its staff and implement new strategies after the end of the investigation.

After conducting an official RFP process for the ESL Pro League, we are pleased to announce that @Heroicgg @Furia and @BIGCLANgg will all be joining the Louvre Agreement as Partner Teams of the @ESL Pro League.

CEOs Hope the New Partnership Will Help CS: GO Tournaments

After facing off against each other earlier this year. BIG and FURIA, along with Heroic nest year, will be joining Astralis, Complexity, ENCE, Evil Geniuses, FaZe, Fnatic, G2, MOUZ, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Liquid, and Vitality as ESL’s partners.

As cited in the Reuters, ESL commissioner Alex Inglot said “These teams and their investors have recognized the value of what we are building with the ESL Pro League project.”

He continued explaining that the three esports organizations have put down such significant bids (with financial and non-financial components to each), which shows that they are stable and growing. He added that ESL does not doubt that “each of these three teams will meaningfully contribute to our momentum, in the spirit of collaboration, global growth and strategic creativity.”

It seems one of the main reasons why ESL invited the three organizations is to “create a sustainable, economical, competitive CS:GO ecosystem,” as said by ESL's co-CEO, Ralf Reichert. He continued explaining that each one of the three organizations brings something different to the table, while simultaneously strengthening the global appeal of the ESL Pro League and increasing exposure of competitive CS:GO.

What this deal, along with the 12 other teams ESL already has as its partners, will lead to, will be seen next year on the next season of the ESL Pro League that will run from March 9 to April 10, 2022.
