B8 Esports Teases Potential CS:GO Entry

in Counter Strike
August 2, 2021
  • B8 Esports has teased fans that the Dota 2-only team may now be expanding into another competitive branch with CS:GO as the most likely title
  • The team would face very strong opposition in the CIS region, which is home to Virtus.Pro, Natus Vincere, and Gambit
  • A new promising CS:GO outfit in the region would make things more interesting and raise the game's profile

After a couple of tweets, it seems possible that B8 Esports will launch a second competitive arm, this time in CS:GO.

B8 Esports Teases Entry into CS:GO, Is One on the Way?

A new name may soon be coming to the competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) scene in the CIS region. While still speculative, B8 Esports, a Dota 2-only esports organization, maybe following in the footsteps of other regional powerhouses, looking to branch out into another Valve title.

Given the prize money at stake in both games, their follow-up choice for a title is definitely smart. Created in 2020, the team has won $33,000 from playing Dota 2 so far and was captained by Danil “Dendi” Ishutin, one of the most famed players in the discipline.

B8 may be looking to new and greener pastures right now, though, after tweeting a few brief messages containing numerous CS:GO references. Doing so, though, would mean that the organization has to prepare for some tough challenges ahead right in their backyard.

Presently, some of the most accomplished CS:GO esports teams all hail from the region, which means that looking ahead, B8 Esports may go up against Virtus.pro, Gambit, or even Dendi's former team, Na'Vi.

If we signed a non-Dota 2 team, would our favorite map be overpass or train? 😏

Each of these organizations has won millions out of playing CS:GO, and they have had over a decade to hone their skills. Entering what can be a crowded space for Counter-Strike is exciting, and it may reveal the real breadth of B8 Esports' future efforts.

However, prize money in Counter-Strike continues to grow, with BLAST Premier investing steadily in the ecosystem's growth and raw player participation numbers justifying the further expansion of the competitive scene.

In this context, any B8 Esports entry into the sport would be interesting to behold as it would require the organization to acquire a talented roster of individuals and catch them up to speed quickly. We will be looking forward to B8 Esports' breakthrough in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene if this is indeed coming.
