9INE Extends Its Contract With the Current Roster

in Counter Strike
May 24, 2023
  • The team will continue playing in its current form
  • 9INE has already set some big goals for next year’s CS2 Majors
  • The squad has already quickly climbed the world ranking ladder in recent months

Despite exiting the BLAST Premier Paris Major early, 9INE’s management has decided to keep the team in its current configuration for future events.

9INE Extend Contract with Roster

As Counter-Strike 2 is nearing its launch, esports organizations are making adjustments to their rosters. Often, this includes signing new members and releasing others, but Swedish organization 9INE has decided to stay with its current team and announced it’s extending the Polish players’ contract. The organization stated that it aims to qualify for the PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major in March 2024 and attend other high-tier competitions this year.

“We are thrilled to announce the re-signing of our full Polish roster, with a clear main objective: to qualify for the first CS2 major,” 9INE announced on Linkedin. “This team made history by becoming the first all-Polish roster to qualify for a major in half a decade. With their sights set on the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024, they are primed to qualify for two consecutive majors.”

9INE’s current lineup was signed in August last year as the organization revived its CS:GO division after nine months of inactivity following the departure of their Swedish roster. Wiktor “mynio” Kruk’s men held the line until January of this year when the arrival of Olek “hades” Miskiewicz pushed the team to new heights as they qualified for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown and IEM Rio.

From there, the team quickly climbed the ladder of the world ranking from the No. 44 spot in January to their peak at No. 17. They did this thanks to their cohesive plays and prowess on maps like Vertigo, a place where 9INE had a 16-2in streak until Astralis broke it at the Brazy Party.

But that didn’t get in the way of 9INE becoming the first Polish team in nearly five years to qualify for a Valve-sponsored event after a flawless 3-0 run at the European RMR in April. This led them to participate in the BLAST Paris Major, where the team, unfortunately, could not replicate the same successes they showed in previous months. 9INE were eliminated by FaZe and had to go home with a 0-3 record from the event.

Nevertheless, the organization decided to keep the team as it is and already set big goals for the roster, which currently looks like this:

  • Kamil “KEi” Pietkun
  • Krzysztof “Goofy” Górski
  • Kacper “Kylar” Walukiewicz
  • Wiktor “mynio” Kruk
  • Olek “hades” Miskiewicz
  • Piotr “nawrot” Nawrocki (coach)
