  • Berserker scores a KDA of 47.0 during the LCS finals against 100 Thieves
  • This comes very close to the LCS finals KDA record from 2013 set by Meteos
  • The player also boasts an impressive average KDA of 6.1 through the season

Cloud9’s Berserker almost beats the record for the highest KDA seen at an LCS final ever.

Berserker Comes Close to a Record

Starting the year with lots of bad luck, Cloud9 was struggling and stumbling a lot during the spring. However, as time passed, the team finally got a hold of themselves and started winning more and more matches. The culmination of their efforts was just this weekend when Cloud9 defeated 100 Thieves and won the LCS

The sweeping victory against 100T could not have happened without what is undeniably C9’s MVP – ADC Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol. Not only did the 19-year-old player lead the charge against 100 Thieves, bringing his team the victory, but he did so while almost scoring a record KDA in any LCS player in a grand finals match.

With a KDA of 47.0, Berserker is just slightly behind the previous record holder, another Cloud9 legend by the name of Meteos, who in 2013 set a record at 54.0 KDA against TSM in that season’s summer finals. Unfortunately, Berserker’s 23/1/24 was just seven combined kills and assists away from breaking Meteos’ record.

Berserker Boasts Amazing Stats

Despite Berserker not being able to beat the record, which has now stood for nine years, he was the one that came closest to beating it. And considering the player is still at the beginning of his professional career, it would not be surprising to see him beat the record in the upcoming years.

However, by scoring a KDA of more than 40, Berserker placed himself in a deluxe club, that is also populated by former Cloud9 players. The last time someone broke the coveted 40 KDA mark was in 2014 at the LCS Spring Split finals when four out of five C9 starters did so in the same match against TSM.

According to League stats site Games of Legends, C9 support LemonNation was the closest to beating Meteos’ record with a KDA of 43.0. That is, of course, until this year when Berserker surpassed him and got even closer to Meteos’ coveted top score.

Berserker’s achievement is not a one-time fluke. Throughout the season, the 19-year-old player held the second-highest KDA among all players with a mark of 6.1. He was only surpassed by his teammate Jensen who, according to League stats site Oracle’s Elixir, held a higher KDA during this summer’s playoffs at 6.5.

Cloud9’s victory over 100 Thieves officially qualifies them for the 2022 League World Championship as North America’s No. 1 seed for the first time since 2013.
