As mixed and all-women teams slowly rise in relevancy, CLG Red announces its very own female exclusive VALORANT lineup.
CLG Red’s New All-Women Roster Will Soon Be Revealed
Counter Logic Gaming Red is an esports organization focused on women. It had a fair share of success in the CS:GO scene and now, very much like numerous people involved in that game, is seeking to expand into VALORANT territory with the same “champion mindset.”
The CLG Red claims to have gathered a lineup of some of the best women in esports. The organization wants to keep the anticipation and excitement going, so they have yet to reveal all team members.
This will happen in the days to follow but for now we have a big name coming up – USA player Benita “bENITA” Novshadian was confirmed as a captain and in-game leader to the team. This isn’t small news as she one of the original members of the CS:GO lineup and an 8-time world champion. BENITA shares she’s honored to be involved with the CLG Red.
Although we don’t know who will be the players alongside bENITA, CLG Red assures fans that they will be some of the strongest women competitive gaming has ever seen. The organization seems really keen on pioneering the women’s VALORANT scene that Riot is planning.
Women in VALORANT and the Prospects of Women’s League
However CLG Red isn’t the first all-women team. Cloud9 White was one of the first to assemble such a roster. Later Evil Geniuses, in their turn, announced a mixed-gender lineup. The latter’s esports director Greg Kim even came out to say that they really wanted to have a natural team instead of buying one. Kim also added that the Evil Geniuses organization is striving to find their own way of doing things and the fresh VALORANT esports scene is a good place to start.
For now, there isn’t a women-only league in VALORANT but Riot haven’t ruled the possibility of one existing in the future. The decision will be based on the results of the Valorant First Strike Event and the Champions Tour this year. The game is still fairly new. As the community around it evolves, the game will follow accordingly, concludes Zanne Wong, Brand and marketing manager at Riot Games.
