Recent Treyarch Job Listing Suggests the Studio Might Take over Warzone 2 Support

in Call of Duty
December 5, 2022
  • CoD titles often have many different developers
  • Warzone 2’s devs, Infinity Ward and Raven Software, say they will not live support the game
  • Fans are starting to wonder who will provide the game’s live support

A recent job listing by Treyarch about the position of Senior Level Designer prompts fans to think the studio will take over support for Warzone 2.

Will Treyarch Take Over Warzone 2 Support?

Fans often want to quickly get information about the upcoming content of their favorite games, thus leading many to search for things that might give at least some hints. Warzone 2 fans are no different and some recent hiring information pointed out by fans suggests the game might soon have a new map. These speculations come after Treyarch posted a job listing for a Senior Level Designer.

The connection here might not seem obvious at first, but it has to do with the many different studios that work under Activision to develop the various Call of Duty titles. The original Call of Duty: Warzone was co-developed by Infinity Ward and Raven Software. The sequel to the game was also developed by these two studios, however, producing live content for the title is proving to be much different.

Developers from both Infinity Ward and Raven Software admitted they were not prepared to deliver live service content efficiently. With this information, many fans started wondering if any other studio will take up support for Warzone 2. Considering Treyarch is one of the most prolific CoD developers, making games for Activision all the way back from the mid-2000s to most recently creating Vanguard in 2021, many fans think it might take up support for Warzone 2.

Fans Point toward a Treyarch Job Listing

There is not much to support these speculations, but the chief reason many think Treyarch might take over creating content for Warzone 2 is a recently opened space for the company. Treyarch recently listed a job position for a Senior Level Designer, whose description says the new employee will work on building CoD: Warzone maps.

This speculation is further evidence supporting an earlier claim by Call of Duty leaker TheGhostofHope. Hope previously said in October that Treyarch is leading map design for a new Call of Duty: Warzone's 2 map.

However, just because Treyarch is developing a map for Call of Duty: Warzone 2, that doesn't necessarily mean it's doing so alone. It also doesn’t mean the studio will have a larger role in working on the battle royal. Hope previously said that other “support studios” are helping Treyarch by making and placing assets, meaning that Warzone 2 is currently still a multi-studio project much like the original game grew into.
