Hack Leaks Possible Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 Content for 2023

in Call of Duty
February 20, 2023
  • Leaked data suggests what we will see for the upcoming Seasons 3, 4, and 6
  • These include many things from new Operators to new maps
  • It’s important to take this information with a pinch of salt

A hack from December last year has allegedly leaked the content roadmap for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 for this year.

Activision Got Hacked

We are well into 2023, but Activision has yet to reveal a lot of details about what their plans for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare II are for this year. However, fans might get tantalizing evidence of what the 2023 road map for the two games will look like thanks to a hack that happened late last year.

On December 4, 2022, Activision was allegedly hacked by threat actors who managed to phish access to their network through a privileged user. This information comes from vx-underground, a website that compiles malware code and leaked documents. According to them, the hackers got their hands on documents and schedules detailing content that the two games would receive up until November 2023. Also according to vx-underground, Activision did not report the hack to anybody.

Vx-underground showed several screenshots of what is allegedly a content roadmap for the upcoming seasons of MWII and Warzone 2. The information shows what Activision plans for Seasons 3, 4, and 6. Interestingly, there seems to be no information for Season 5 anywhere.

.@Activision was breached December 4th, 2022. The Threat Actors successfully phished a privileged user on the network. They exfiltrated sensitive work place documents as well as scheduled to be released content dating to November 17th, 2023.

What Could Activision Be Planning?

According to the leaked data, Activision plans a lot of new things for the upcoming Season 3. These include two new Operators, three new weapons, three core maps, one battle map, four Gunfights maps, one Spec Ops mission, a raid, and a battle pass. Seasons 4 and 6 seem to have similar content prepared, albeit they differ in the number of maps.

In terms of dates for when this content will be released, the leaked data shows a timetable spanning until November 17. Season 3 should start coming out by March 8 and be integrated into the games on April 5. This season should end on May 16, which corresponds to the alleged start of Season 4.

Additionally, Season 6 should be released sometime in September this year, but there might be an event that will go along with it called “Haunting of Saba”. This could be a special celebration for Halloween. The leaked data also reveals a project with the codename “Jupiter”. It’s unknown what this could be and speculations range from 2023’s premium Call of Duty release to something entirely new.

Whatever the case, it’s important not to take this information as 100% true as Activision may change a lot of their plans in the future.
