Dot Esports’ recent survey asked GMs and coaches about their opinions on the current state of the Call of Duty League.
Dot Esports’ Latest Survey Yielded Interesting Results
The esports news outlet Dot Esports has just published the results of its Call of Duty League 2022 midseason coach and general manager survey. The journalists asked various CDL mentors and managers about their opinions on certain esports matters, such as who is the best player right now, what maps are the least favorable for certain game modes, etc.

When asked about their opinions on which the best players in each position are, coaches and managers agreed that the top SMG player is OpTic Texas’ Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro, followed by Chris “Simp” Lehr and Seth “Scump” Abner.
When it comes to flex players, the respondents voted Atlanta FaZe’s McArthur “Cellium” Jovel as the top one, with Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal and Daunte “Sib” Gray in second and third place respectively.
The league authorities said that they believe Brandon “Dashy” Otell from OpTic Texas is the best AR player in the game. The survey put Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson in second place and Anthony “Methodz” Zinni in third.
The respondents agreed that Shotzzy, Cellium and Dashy were also the best players throughout the first half of the season.
The survey then asked who are the top rookies. The GMs and coaches picked Kenyen “Capsidal” Sutton, Daunte “Sib” Gray and Amer “Pred” Zulbeari as the top ones (in descending order).
The last question about players asked the coaches and GMs about which Challengers players have impressed them the most this year. The one voted in the first place was Colt “Havok” McLendon, followed by Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst in second. Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley and Elliot “Wardy” Ward tied for third place.
The next few questions inquired about the respondents’ opinions on the teams in the game. At first, Dot Esports’ journalists wanted to know which team coaches and GMs believe is in the direst need of a roster change. According to the league experts, Minnesota RØKKR needs one the most, with Los Angeles Thieves and New York Subliners coming up next.
The respondents agreed that Atlanta FaZe currently has the best chances of winning both Major Three and the Championship.
The Survey Inquired about Respondents’ Opinions on the League as a Whole
The journalists were also curious about the respondents’ opinions on the league as a whole. They asked coaches and GMs about their preferred grand finals format. It turns out four out of five respondents prefer two best-of-five series, while the remainder support one best-of-nine series.
It seems that CDL authorities unanimously agree that the Berlin map should be added to the rotation for the Control game mode. As of now, there are only three Control maps, which led fans to beg for more.
Speaking about maps, Gavutu won the vote for the worst Hardpoint map with 47%. The second worst was Bocage with 33%, followed by Tuscan with 20%. Everyone agreed that Berlin is not the worst map.
The voting for the worst Search and Destroy map looked similar. Not a soul voted for Berlin, while 53% agreed that Bocage is the worst one of them all. The second Is Desert Siege with 40% and Tuscan coming up next with 7%.
Almost all coaches and GMs (93%) agree that Gavutu is the worst Control map while a few (7%) think this “honor” belongs to Tuscan.
Taking a look at players’ arsenal, coaches are not decisive about whether the notorious Volkssturmgewehr weapon should be restricted. The survey showed that 53% support a restriction, 20% oppose it and 27% are unsure.
Coaches and GMs don’t seem thrilled about the current CDL season. When asked how they feel about it on a scale of 1 to 10, the respondents’ average answer was 5/10.
Almost everyone seems to be unhappy with Sledgehammer’s communication about the competitive changes in Vanguard. On a scale of 1 to 10, people rated the company’s approach to be 3/10.
Respondents seem generally unhappy with Call of Duty: Vanguard as a whole. When asked to rate the game, the coaches and GMs gave it a 4/10 mark.
