CoD: Mobile World Championship Returns with a Whopping Prize Pool

in Call of Duty
March 16, 2022
  • The series will have a total of five stages through the year
  • Everyone can participate in the first stage of the series, beginning on March 31
  • The Grand Finals will have a $1.7 million prize pool

Call of Duty: Mobile is returning in spring 2022 with a record-breaking prize pool and Finals played LAN in December.

The new CoD: Mobile Series

Mobile gaming has picked up a lot in popularity over the past few years with many high-stakes tournaments being played more often. This trend seems to be supported by the return of the 2022 Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship with its $2 million prize pool.

The tournament that starts on March 31 promises to “be a major event for all eligible players”, according to the official statement. The prize pool, of which $1.7 million are going to the Championship Finals, is the largest single event payout in Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship history. All eligible participants will be able to compete to earn in-game rewards, including new weapons and Operators, plus a share of the prize pool.

How the Tournament Will Play Out?

The tournament will begin with stages, designed for players of all skill levels, namely Stage One and Two. Any CoD: Mobile players can sign up and try out their skills. Everyone who signs up to compete will earn an all-new Frame and Calling Card.

Stage One starts on March 31 and ends on April 24. Players who have completed 10 Ranked Multiplayer matches and earn 60 points will qualify for Stage 2, which is scheduled to start on May 12 and go on until May 22. Teams who have performed well will go onto Stage 3. These are the Regional Qualifiers, whose schedule is as follows:

  • Regional Qualifiers for Latin America and India: June 17th – 19th 2022
  • Regional Qualifiers for Europe and Japan: June 24th – 26th 2022
  • Regional Qualifiers for North America: July 1st – 3rd  2022

Stage 4 will feature five Regional Playoffs in August 2022.

  • Latin America Regional Playoffs: August 13th – 14th 2022
  • India Regional Playoffs:  August 13th – 14th 2022
  • Europe Regional Playoffs: August 20th – 21st 2022
  • Japan Regional Playoffs: August 20th – 21st 2022
  • North America Regional Playoffs: August 27th – 28th 2022

The final Stage 5 is the World Championship Final offline event scheduled for December 2022.

Mobile CoD Is Soaring in Popularity

Over the past year or two, mobile gaming has somewhat of a resurgence. With many large franchises branching out to mobile platforms, it is no wonder large organizers like ESL Gaming are launching mobile esports leagues.

Activision’s vice president of mobile Matt Lewis had a few things to say on the matter. “Our massive, worldwide community of players continues to drive the team’s passion to deliver an epic Call of Duty: Mobile experience now and in the future,” he commented. He invited everyone to partake in the event for a chance to win a portion of the $2 million prize pool.
