Call of Duty Suspends 100,000 Offender Accounts

in Call of Duty
August 26, 2021
  • Call of Duty offenders will face a ban with 100,000 new accounts suspended earlier this week
  • Activision is ramping up its efforts to identify toxic and abusive players as well as cheaters
  • Vanguard, the latest installment in the franchise, will come with a dramatically improved anti-cheat system

Activision efforts to clamp down on hackers and abusive players continue with another 100,000 accounts banned.

Call of Duty Continues to Fight Abusers and Cheaters

Down comes the ban hammer with another 100,000 accounts suspended from Call of Duty earlier this week. The news is reassuring for people who have got fed up with the prevalence of hacking abuses in the franchise and specifically, the battle royale iteration, Warzone.

Some reason for celebration, banning 100,000 suspected cheaters and abusers is definitely helpful but with a game so badly plagued by offenders and 100 million registered players, it seems that the most recent ban is just a drop in the ocean.

A warning to cheaters: our new PC anti-cheat is coming and we’re dedicated to rooting out active and repeat offenders today.

Raven Software is not slowing down and the developer is even openly challenging cheaters. In a statement, the company issued a warning to offenders: “A warning to cheaters: our new PC anti-cheat is coming and we’re dedicated to rooting out active and repeat offenders today.”

Abusers, Toxic Players and Cheaters All Under the Knife

Activision has done no bad job of clamping down on potential cheaters and other offenders, though. The company claims to have suspended 500,000 accounts in May across multiple Call of Duty franchises. Raven Software has assured that this is just the beginning of a bigger cleansing that will target and suspend offenders in the battle royale game.

Hopes were bolstered by the announcement that Warzone and Vanguard will share the same engine. Sledgehammer Studios, the developer behind Vanguard, has reached out to other developers in the Call of Duty universe to bring its anti-cheating systems up to speed.

Vanguard is the latest installment in the Call of Duty series and it will feature a brand new anti-cheating system that will hopefully be another huge blow against offenders in Warzone. Vanguard is set to release on November 5 and this should come with a major update for Warzone as well.
