- Treyarch announces zombie mode for Vanguard
- Devs post teasers on Twitter, featuring new zombies
- It seems players will be battling an invasion from Hell
Call of Duty: Vanguard will have a zombie mode, which are being revealed today, October 14.
Zombies Come to Vanguard
Call of Duty: Vanguard’s creators, Treyarch, have been teasing fans about more PvE content for weeks, and recently they announced that a Zombies mode will soon be released. The much-anticipated game mode is being introduced today.
Zombies have become a staple in Call of Duty games, with almost all instances of the title having such a mode. The mode goes back to Call of Duty: World at War as a simple bonus pack. It has since turned into a fully-fledged experience with a complex story and unique gameplay. Each installment of the CoD franchise adds new maps and features that further enrich the player experience.
Speaking of the complex story, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War recently had its last map zombies, Forsaken, introduced, which wraps up the end of the first chapter in the Dark Aether storyline. Fans are hopeful that Vanguard’s new Zombies mode will mean another great year for the format.
What Can Players Expect?
On October 12 both the developers, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games teased the arrival of the game mode in Twitter posts. It seems this time the story is taking a wild turn as there’s a new big bad in zombietown.
The promotional material shows a zombie, that seems a cut above the rest, not just because of its size and four arms, but also the fact that it is wearing some kind of ceremonial robes and headgear. If that was not weird enough, apparently the new mode will include demon invasions, in addition to the Dark Aether dimension introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War’s zombies mode.
The Dark Aether in the lore is generally understood to be Hell itself, so it is no surprise demons want to invade. Of course, players would have to play the game to see how these whole demon shenanigans are going to fit into the lore as a whole.
Treyarch’s teaser was a lot simpler with a demonic-zombie arm simply reaching up, with the caption saying “Raise your hand if you’re ready for the worldwide reveal of #Vanguard”.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies mode will be revealed on October 14 at 10 am CT, while the game itself releases on November 5.
