- Blizzard announced another World of Warcraft dungeon-centered tournament, called “The Great Push”
- The Great Push’s format will differ from the Mythic Dungeon International series
- Players will be rushing against the clock for a prize pool of $20,000
Blizzard has announced “The Great Push” WoW tournament that will be a new interpretation of the game company’s former dungeon events.
The Great Push’s New Format
Yesterday Blizzard revealed a new World of Warcraft: Shadowlands dungeon-styled player-versus-environment tournament for this year. It will be a culmination of the developer team’s fourteen years of experience and will be called “The Great Push.” The tournament will have players challenge the game’s competitive dungeons.
The Great Push will differ from the usual Mythic Dungeon International event. It will test a new format where people don’t directly compete against each other’s performances but instead push their Mythic+ keys as much as they can for the best time possible.
Blizzard called it “outsurviving competitors” and upgrading Mythic+ keys as high as the team possibly can. Players will fight against the unwelcoming WoW creatures with a $20,000 prize pool on the line. It’s a much smaller prize pool than the Mythic Dungeon International, but that’s probably because it’s the first event of its kind.
The tournament will be an open format, with any team of five being eligible to participate. A Proving Grounds event will test the teams’ mettle, and only the best six will earn the privilege of advancing to the real Great Push.
The main event will be held on from May 28 to May 30 and will be broadcasted on World of Warcraft’s main YouTube and Twitch channels.
Signing up for the Event
Enthusiasts can currently sign up for the Great Push. There are no requirements for the players’ characters. The only necessity is a full team of five people. Free agents will not be able to participate. Any interested solo players need to find a team before the signups close on May 17.
The Proving grounds begin on May 22, followed by the main event on May 28.
Before the Great Push comes about, however, players can enjoy the next edition of the Mythic Dungeon International, which will begin on April 23 and will have some of the best World of Warcraft teams play for $300,000 in prizes.
