  • Danish shipping giant Maersk will sponsor an MVP event in BLAST’s CS:GO tournaments
  • The MVP will receive a Maersk-branded trophy
  • Bringing an outside company to the esports scene is a testament to BLAST’s value

The world’s leading CS:GO tournament organizer BLAST Premier has struck a lucrative sponsorship with one of the largest shipping companies globally Maersk.

BLAST and Maersk Strike a Deal

BLAST Premier is the world’s leading organizer for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournaments. Each year the company publishes an extensive schedule for its events during the CS:GO competitive season. In order to fulfill them, BLAST often partners up with other companies for sponsorship. This is why BLAST Premier recently struck a deal with Danish shipping and logistics company A.P. Moller-Maersk, more commonly known as just Maersk.

The shipping company will become BLAST’s principal sponsor for the remaining competitive events of the 2022 season and its branding will be featured on BLAST Premier’s digital and physical assets. Maersk has before sponsored esports events, but this new deal marks the first long-term esports collaboration for the Danish company. Last year it and BLAST first collaborated when Maersk sponsored BLAST Fall Final in November in Copenhagen.

BLAST Premier and Maersk will partner on an MVP segment. In it, the top players from each tournament will receive a Maersk-branded trophy. The two companies aim to “integrated digital campaigns” for the enjoyment of fans.

Maersk Sponsors an MVP Segment

“We are delighted to welcome back a highly respected and global brand such as Maersk,” said Commercial Director at BLAST Oliver Clarke. He said that hopes are the organization can build on the popularity of the MVP segment from last year by focusing on fan-led in-person and digital experiences to engage the Counter-Strike community.

“Bringing on board a non-endemic brand such as Maersk is testament to the value partners outside of the gaming and esports space equate to teaming up with BLAST Premier,” Clarke added.

Maersk is equally happy to be in this partnership. “We are proud to be a sponsor of BLAST for the second year in a row,” said Head of Corporate Branding at A.P. Moller-Maersk Samuel Poulter. He explained the company decided to sponsor the MVP event to recognize the enormous skill and tactical intelligence needed in this sport and to engage and interact with the fans who are truly passionate about their teams and players.”

Being one of the largest transport companies in the world, Maersk’s commitment to this sponsorship is a huge win for BLAST Premier, as it shows the tournament organizer’s growth, and is also a welcomed non-endemic sponsor for BLAST Premier events.
