BI Win the Event
As the new year rolls on, so do competitive Dota 2 events. Although the major tournaments of the year are still to be held, the competitive season has to start somewhere. This is why the Asia Pacific Predator League 2024 is key, as the Tier 3 event, being held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, offers teams from SEA an opportunity to make their name and also win a good amount of cash.
Blacklist International, also known as Blacklist Rivalry, is the organization that benefited the most from the event, as the team won first place yesterday, taking home the trophy as well as the lion’s share of the $100 000 prize pool. They were among four teams invited, alongside Execration, 747, and Aster.Aries.
Blacklist International Had an Amazing Run
It was not an easy run for the organization as it had to face many prominent Southeast Asian teams such as Execration Gaming, Myth Avenue Gaming, IHC Esports, and 747. However, this makes Blacklist International’s victory at the Dota 2 tournament even more impressive, as the org went through the event, which was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, from January 10th to 14th, without losing a single match.
BI had to face teams such as Execration, Myth Avenue Gaming, Whoops!, and ZOL Esports in several best-of-one series during the tournament’s group stages. Not only did BI win every game, but they also often did so with a very convincing lead, allowing the team to climb the leaderboard and secure a place in the playoffs.
The event’s playoffs saw Blacklist International overpower the Mongolian esports team, IHC Esports. The match, which was yet another best-of-one, was over rather quickly, before the 30-minute mark, allowing the team to smoothly progress to the grand finals where it had to face Execration again.
Over the final match, BI once again demonstrated exceptional skill, maintaining a lead in gold and experience, which resulted in them having a significant 20 099 gold advantage by the 24-minute mark. Abed “Abed” Yusop played a pivotal role, with Execration unable to counter his Dragon Knight. By minute 42, the first game was over and BI took the lead.
Although game two was a bit more balanced, Blacklist International’s strategic draft of Naga Siren, Chen, and Luna managed to eventually tip the scales in their favor. The trio of heroes disrupted Execration’s defense efforts, leading to the team’s eventual downfall and BI winning the match with a convincing 2-0 and taking home the grand prize of $65 000.
