- Autimatic retires from professional VALORANT
- He returns to CS:GO by signing with Evil Geniuses
- “Happy to come back to my first love and excited for this,” says autimatic
Autimatic rejoins fellow 2018 Major winner Stewie2K by signing into Evil Geniuses’ CS:GO roster for 2022.
EG Announces the Acquisition of Autimatic
With organizers announcing plans for the 2022 competitive CS:GO season, many teams are restructuring their rosters in preparation for the tournaments. One such team is Evil Geniuses, who recently officially singed Timothy “autimatic” Ta.
The 25-year-old CS:GO veteran played professional VALORANT for T1. He had been with the organization since February last year but decided to return to the Valve shooter. This could be promoted because, despite having a good lineup on paper, T1 had a rough time competing in VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2021.
Autimatic’s signing will be of great benefit not only to him but will also be a great addition to Evil Geniuses’ roster. The team did not have a great 2021 season. Former EG coach Damian Steele, a.k.a. daps, explained why EG had a bad performance. A big reason, according to him, was the team’s insufficient motivation, as well as the eventual removal of MICHU, oBo, and stanislaw. By drastically restructuring its roster, EG is hoping to turn its luck this year.
Autimatic Is Rejoining Former Teammates
Autimatic’s signing means he will again play with former teammate Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip. The two played together under Cloud9’s banner, winning The Boston Major in 2018. Perhaps this is one of the reasons EG wanted both players for the 2022 season. Autimatic’s signing comes just a day after Evil Geniuses announced Stewie2K’s addition to the roster.
“Happy to come back to my first love and excited for this new chapter in my life,” wrote autimatic. It is expected that unlike his last CS:GO team, Gen.G, autimatic will be a primary rifler instead of a dedicated AWPer. This is because Tsvetelin “?CeRq?” Dimitrov is already EG’s main sniper.
Interestingly enough, Autimatic’s signing was teased about a week prior by non-other than Evil Geniuses’ CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson. “I know you all want roster news to come Autimatically,” she wrote not so cryptically in a Twitter thread. Interestingly enough, the thread also hinted at the signing of other players, specifically William “RUSH” Wierzba.
The team is currently comprised of autimatic, Stewie2K, Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, andTsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov. They are currently bootcamping in Europe for the upcoming BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022, and will be facing Team Vitality on the 30th of January.
