  • The Serbian organization brought aboard one of the best SEA lineups
  • Only midlaner Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman from the former Talon team will not be part of Aurora
  • He will be replaced by former Team Secret player Armel “Armel” Tabios

Aurora will field Talon Esports’ former roster in the upcoming closed qualifiers for the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.

Aurora Sign Talon’s Players

Despite Dota 2’s The International for this year having already ended, new challenges await teams worldwide. Right now, many organizations are busy looking for new talents to restructure their competitive rosters and Serbian group Aurora is no exception. This is why it announced yesterday that it has signed the former Talon Esports Dota 2 roster.

This is quite the deal for Aurora, as the roister is quite experienced and is considered one of, if not the most successful SEA team. In their time playing for Talon, the squad qualified for The International 11. Unfortunately, they finished 9th-12th in the event, but still made up the year by performing quite well in other events throughout 2023. Talon’s former roster finished third at the Lima Major 2023, fourth at DreamLeague Season 20, and then third at Riyadh Masters 2023, which earned Talon a whopping $1,700,000 in prize money.

Despite the relative success that the organization has had throughout the year, Talon Esports dissolved its Dota 2 roster a couple of weeks ago, letting the players search for new opportunities. “After discussions with the team, we have come to the agreement to mutually part ways to allow other opportunities to be explored,” Talon Esport’s statement on Twitter reads. “We would like to thank everyone for their contribution to this era of Talon Dota, and wish them the best in their next chapter.”

The Squad Will Be Missing a Member

Considering the players’ reputation, it shouldn’t be surprising that they quickly managed to find a new home. That being said, they are one person short as midlaner Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman has decided to strike out on his own. His place will be taken over by former Team Secret player Armel “Armel” Tabios.

Mikoto was one of the team’s best members, providing flawless starts from the midlane against some of the greatest players, and was even named MVP at Riyadh Masters 2023. However, Armel is a veteran who takes his position and is returning to SEA after spending some time with Team Secret, so he should hopefully be a good replacement.

Aurora is expected to field its new roster at the qualifiers for the upcoming ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. Four teams have already been invited to the ESL One event in the Malaysian capital, but the rest of the eight berths will be filled through various open and closed qualifiers. Aurora’s team for the qualifier will be this:

  • Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon
  • Armel “Armel” Paul Tabios
  • Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong
  • Worawit “Q” Mekchai
  • Chan “Oli” Chon Kien
