  • Overwatch 2 has been criticized for many things since it was released
  • The pricing of weapon and hero skins has been a major point of discussion in the community
  • Asmongold says that for the most part, the problem has been overblown

Perhaps the biggest critic of Blizzard, Asmongold, surprisingly defended the company’s decision on skin prices, although he later quickly said a counterpoint.

Blizzard Is Being Criticized for Prices

Overwatch 2 has been released for two weeks now and it has seen quite some popularity. Admittedly, a lot of the discussions around the game address its many flaws and bugs, ranging from various crashes to Blizzard leaking unreleased PvE areas of certain maps.

Another point of intense discussion is Overwatch 2’s skin prices. When Blizzard announced they are working on the game all those years ago, they said the game would become free to play but have microtransactions, mainly for cosmetic items. The company kept that promise and Overwatch 2 now offers many weapon and hero skins in its in-game store. And it’s exactly the prices for these that have come to be a contentious point of discussion for many players.

Popular content creators have also chimed into the discussion and who else than Asmongold, one of Blizzard’s biggest critics over the years, could be more appropriate. But although the streamer is well-known for his frequent blasts of Blizzard, slamming their decisions regarding Diablo Immortal, WoW, and Warcraft, this time he seems to side with the company’s decisions.

Asmongold Agrees with Blizzard

The twitch star said in a recent stream that the problems regarding the apparently large prices of skins on Overwatch 2 is overblown. “There have been a lot of people who are unhappy about Overwatch 2’s skins,” Asmongold said during his stream on October 31. “In my opinion, I think that the problem with the Overwatch 2 skins is completely fucking overblown. I think people are blowing this out of proportion massively. I don’t think that it’s a big deal.”

It might be surprising that one of the biggest critics of Blizzard is siding with them on such a topic. But then again, Asmongold has often said that he tries to be as sincere as possible, regardless of what people think.

Having said that, the content creator didn’t have just positive things to say about the company during his stream. Not long after his defense of the prices Blizzard put on the skins, Asmongold slammed the company for selling a real-life version of a weapon charm for less than it costs in-game. “It is pretty f*cking funny,” Asmongold remarked. “If you want to buy this item, this little stupid thing you could shoot off the table, if you want this in real life, it is cheaper than if you want it in a video game!”

Despite him agreeing with the company on the skin pricing, Asmongold still remains one of the most vocal critics of Blizzard.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
